Up to them if they want to call the omitted game the "best". I didn't feeling like having a poll with a pre-determined outcome. This isn't the first time this has happened.

I agree. It's gonna be nasty. Not in a Clemson vs USC 2004 Brawl way...more a UGA vs Florida way. AND just like UGA vs UF....this should be played at a neutral site.

I'm as pissed as I'm sure Citadel folks were when I logged on at 10 am to find CSU has STANDING ROOM ONLY tickets for sale. About 500 seats went to Citadel donors...all other 4000 went to Buc Club donors or big wigs. The rest of us are gonna be standing on grass. Bullshit.

On behalf of CSU...I'm sorry. This is Bush League. We just got 750k from Bama. And we can't rent some damn bleachers? And this is NOT a new problem....

1992 SC State vs CSU....moved to Summerville HS drew 8000ish
1998 SC State vs CSU drew 7700 (lost 17-7)
2000 Wofford drew over 4000 (lost 24-14)
2005 and every odd year since Coastal has overflowed CSU field
2013 vs Citadel was 6000 or more

The CSU administration has known the stadium capacity was inadequate for 20 years now. Not every game. But some. And it's embarrassing. The Athletics Department has tried but no success in getting the Admin to approve expansion. In 1999 Home Depot and Budweisers local plant offered sponsorship/naming rights to build a 10,000 seat stadium all new but it was denied. Bud for obvious reasons. But Home Depot....never heard why (With all the future construction planned on Highway 78 and Summerville in 1999-present....Home Depot wouldve had a giant billboard on the stadium facing heavily traveled Highway 78 near I-26...HD wanted it for obvious advertising opportunity).

BUT NO.....they wouldn't do any of it. Now not only will the Citadel fans be standing on grass....so will MANY CSU fans.

Anyway....Citadel folks...I hope we win....but I apologize. This is not how the football program or AD wants it. It's completely bush league.
Bush league is not taking AB's money. And those donors and big Whigs help fund the program. It's probably not their fault nor should they be thrown under the bus.
Oh I hope I didn't sound like I was knocking the donors. Big donors deserve first shot at tickets.

I'm knocking the CSU administration. Since 1998 when the CSU vs SC State game flooded CSU field with over 7000 fans....they knew they either needed to expand seating, find an alternate site for opponents who bring big crowds, or STOP hosting those teams. The 3rd choice obviously isn't an option....especially after Coastal joined the Big South.

I wish we'd rent Blackbaud Stadium....put up temporary field goals....and make it like the UGA vs Florida game in Jacksonville. A big ass party. Invite bands and food trucks. Call it the Holy City Bowl or something. Donate half the gate to Wounded Warrior Project or animal charity or something. Could be a huge social event in Charleston and wonderful PR for both schools if it was a yearly event.

CSUs Admin doesn't care. They spent money on lights and a field before spending money on stadium upgrades that actually matter. Not taking donor money was stupid, stupid, stupid. If, after this season, CSU doesn't add additional seating, y'all should riot.

Just posted a sincere apology thread to Citadel fans for this shit. A Division 1 playoff run should never end up sitting in a lawn chair on grass....for a crowd under 10,000.

You're right about the admin. The lights and turf came from playing Colorado and Georgia. Not the admin. The Admin (same president since 1970s) hardly cares about football other than enrollment. When we switched from Baptist College to Charleston Southern in 1989 it was to boost enrollment. They started football for the same reason...never expecting much on the field. This team has overachieved since Day 1.

To do what we have with what we have.....God help the Big South if the school ever decides to majorly invest in football.

Y'all have done well, but are seriously deficient in the facilities. Does the administration realize this? Is your HC protesting the lack of upgrades?

Yes and yes. It's frustrating. Team has fought and clawed for everything it's ever gotten. Overachieved.

That's my homer pick and I'm sticking too it.
:suspicious:

Chatty, at home, was out gained 411 to 196.

The 196 is not a typo.

JSU out rushed UTC 298 (at a 6.8 yard per clip average) to 110.

JSU dominated everything but the scoreboard.

Heck, what kept CSU in the game was that they had a TD off a 55 yard fumble return and only had to go 23 yards for another TD.

This game is at JSU.

The only way for CSU to come out of there with a win is if JSU simply makes a boatload of mistakes that CSU can cash in. Otherwise, I expect JSU to win by at least 14....probably 20 if there are no weather related problems.

I went with SHSU @ McNeese- Pulling for SHSU, as that would mean SHSU @ JMU in the qtrfinals. If McNeese wins, will be JMU @ McNeese..

Otherwise would have gone with UTC @ JSU- UTC has a good chance to knock off #1 (not saying they will). At least as good a chance of Montana over NDSU..

JMU would probably lose either, but I think JMU's chances would be better vs SHSU at home vs McNeese on the road. Remember, McNeese beat SHSU 27-10 earlier this season...Plus if @ JMU I could go to the game. I'm going to be in VA anyway that weekend visiting family. Vs McNeese I'd be watching in front of a damn computer screen..

I'd have picked Montana at North Dakota State if I'd seen it as an option. Here we have the four time defending national champ hosting a team that beat it to open the season. To me that's got to have the most national appeal.

Since it wasn't available I went homer and took Sam Houston State at McNeese State. McNeese is the 4 seed but I think you have to make Sam Houston State the favorite for a number of reasons including KC Keeler's playoff record vs. Matt Viator having never won a playoff game.

But I'll hope for an upset. One thing about this game is that it probably WILL be the most emotionally intense game of the second round as far as the players go. These two teams do NOT like each other and I've heard there's a bunch of Twitter smack going on. Sam Houston State players being assholes, of course, and McNeese players being sweet and classy though of course taking up for themselves.

You guys all need to pull for the program that has class and does thing the right way to beat the program loaded with jerks and mercenaries. Classic Snidely Whiplash vs. Dudley Do Right matchup here. Good guys (McNeese State) vs. bad guys (Sam Houston State) matchup if ever there was one.

You know...I gotta say...this year I've seen some video on Keeler and quotes and such. And I'm developing the impression that the guy is a prick. I mean, I have all the respect in the world with regard to what he's accomplished. But some of the stuff he says is awfully prickish.

I have to wonder if his personality was a factor in why Delaware got rid of him in spite of what he'd accomplished. I can easily imagine him pissing people off.

He definitely was not a friend of the University President nor the donor(s?) who paid his buyout. He was also prone to throwing others under the bus in post-loss press conferences. He was right most of the time, but most coaches don't do that in press conference (I.e. The Bill Belichick School of Drab Responses).

See...that is an odd statement. Nobody has said Brock throws people under the bus, but when you read Brock's quotes, he throws people under the bus all the time. Brock singled out the kid who messed the punt that resulted in a TD. He's singled out others as well. But, Brock is seen as a nice guy, whereas KC was seen by some (usually the soft, PC folks who didn't get their own egos massaged) as a prick. I will say it many times, Brock is an egotistical, stubborn prick with a short temper. But, he smiles and can BS with people so they give him a pass. To tell an 80 person gathering of dedicated, hard core Blue Hen fans that he bets they could not name 10 UD transfers from the past 10 years is a mind boggling, ignorant, and telling thing for him to say. VERY telling, as it turns out.

When people say Harker was behind the anti-transfer crap, they are wrongfully reducing Brock's contribution to the lack of transfers. Sure, Hitler may have been behind the Nazi killing of Jews, but Himmler enjoyed implementing and following through on the plan. In other words, if Brock didn't believe in not taking transfers, he wouldn't have taken the UD job in the first place, and then wholeheartedly embraced the anti-transfer mantra.
