Ex-Citadel Assistant Hamilton Throws Hat in Ring
Re: Citadel HC is out...
Hamilton is getting lots of support from some connected alumni. His HC record at ETSU, Elon and Brevard does not provide any evidence that he will be successful in Charleston but he is being touted as the best man for the job. With all of the support he is getting, he must be a really great guy. I'd prefer to see us go after someone who is younger, is a proven winner, and has taken their team to the playoffs. Many of our fans firmly believe that our HC has to have experience coaching or playing at a military school. I don't disagree vehemently with them, but I also believe that winners will find a way to win.

No man, they SHOULD hire Mills. REmember.....we play The CitadelIbanez wrote:You know what they should do? NOT hire Mills. The guy got canned for a reason.bucs90 wrote:Maybe they should look at former CSU HC Jay Mills? He took CSU over the hump of a .500-ish team to 2005 BSC champs, and was the mentor of current CSU HC Jamey Chadwell. He knows the Charleston area well, and as a former assistant/OC at Harvard, he can certainly recruit to academically tough places.

Paul Johnson didn't have experience coaching or playing at a military school and he took Navy to new heights.
They aren't marching or inspecting brass buckles between those white lines. Its just football, and a great coach can do it anywhere.

He was the OC at Navy in 95-96, where he implemented his triple option offense prior to taking the head coach position at Georgia So. He then returned to Navy in 2002 as head coach.bucs90 wrote:Paul Johnson didn't have experience coaching or playing at a military school and he took Navy to new heights.
