Not my idea. Also not really an issue THIS year, as we would be toast right now even if we HAD scheduled a D-II/FCS opponent that week.grizzaholic wrote:SHHHHH...You don't want to wake up SH.MrTitleist wrote:Didn't SacSt schedule a NAIA?

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

So, will DelState be hosting Wesley in a cross-town rivalry game anytime soon?

If they stop playing around and move up to D2, I'd be happy to play them every year.93henfan wrote:Dover, DE in the house!DSUrocks07 wrote:bump

UNC-Concord getting rolled by a D3.
Makes the UGA beatdown a little more palatable.

As you may recall South Dakota State was beaten 17-3 by Division III Wisconsin LaCrosse in 2006. South Dakota State was a D-II to I-AA transitional but essentially a I-AA team in terms of level of competition. They had other teams that have transitioned from D-II to I-AA/FCS recently on their schedule and I don't know exactly where all those teams were at the time. But the Jackrabbits finished 7-4 including wins over Nicholls State, McNeese State, Cal Poly, UC Davis, Central Arkansas, and Southern Utah. McNeese State got into the playoffs with the Southland's automatic bid that year. Wisconsin LaCrosse finished 9-1 with the only loss being to Wisconsin Whitewater then lost to Wisconsin Whitewater again by 24-21 in its first D-III playoff game. Wisconsin Whitewater went on to lose to Mount Union in the D-III title game. I think it was a clear case of a team that was of decent caliber in the context of I-AA getting beat by a top D-III team. This stuff of assuming that a team is a cupcake just because it's in a lower classification level is fallacious. Might be true that a D-III is a cupcake the overwhelming majority of the time. But not EVERY time as South Dakota State learned in 2006.

John, the Wisconsin D3s play some pretty good FB but still losing to a D3 is pretty bad.
I think in 09 UND lost to Sioux Falls (NAIA). Although SF was really good....NCs in NAIA.

Drake lost to NAIA Grand View earlier this season.

Concordia (D3) across the river from NDSU would beat Drake.
