Got not dog in this fight, but yes, I read it - and found it humorous. The Griz hadn't been stopping **** all day long. But of course, they would have stopped it when it really mattered. Amirite?
Did you actually watch the game?

Like I said, Sac hadn't exactly been lighting it up inside the 10. They scored their last two TDs off lucky deflections. One play from the 3 isn't easy, and the Griz do lead the league in redzone D.
Yes, I did. And I am not so sure that the Sac State coach made the correct call considering what they had been able to do to the UM defense all game long...nor is it a given that the UM defense would have stopped it. You play for the win in those type of games.

We'll call it a difference of opinion, I suppose.

Griz fans complained about the refs after last week? :?

Mindlessly whining about the refs is time that could be better spent mindlessly whining about the coaches. #egriz
:coffee:
Nice of you to cut off the 2nd half of my quote. I saw some griz posters whining about some calls in the EWU game. :tothehand:
I didn't see any, so it must've been a small percentage (I didn't sift through the whole eGriz game thread or anything, because that would probably lead me to suicide). The vast majority on eGriz were attacking the Griz coaches post-game.

It was nothing like Cal Poly fans after their loss in Missoula, or every Big Sky team's fans after any team loses a close game to the Griz. :coffee: ;)

Replays were shown in-game at Hornet Stadium. The replays on the Safron hits were enough to get multiple people yelling at the refs in the section I was sitting in.

I never said it was guarantee, just that the Griz were more than 50% likely to stop one play from the 3. Now, it was a virtual guarantee the Griz would have stopped the two-point play that was called if the timeout hadn't been whistled—it was about to be blown up hard.

Exactly. Playing to win means making the call that gives you the highest percentage chance of winning in the end. Sperbeck likely figured Sac had the edge in overtime because they were at home & their kicker had been playing better lately than Montana's. The Hornet D had also nearly stopped UM inside the 5 three times in the second half (three 4th. & goal from the 1 TDs).

The Hornets made the right call in terms of the percentages, IMO, it's just they crapped out (partially due to their own suddenly mediocre play calling).

Not sure how UM's kicker was doing, Hornet kicker Cornish got the nod this week and those 2 FGs were his first of the season. Given our kicking issues it's hard to reason that our place kicking was something to rely on heading into OT.

OK, I wasn't aware of that. Looking at the stats, though, Aguilar had made 4 of his last 5 coming in. Worst, including yesterday, has only made 2 of his last 6.

The Hornets needed to win out to have any shot at the playoffs so I don't know why he took it to OT. I was happy to see Sperbeck initially go for 2, but was dismayed that he was going to do so in a jumbo set with our 2 best WRs on the bench and so was ok with the PAT. He needed to go for 2 with a 3+ WR set that the Griz had no idea on how to defend.
This.

When they came out and kicked the PAT after the timeout, I had a HUGE sigh of relief.

We wouldn't have stopped you guys.
We would have stopped them in the set they were in.
