SH has some good points. If we are playing "ifs and buts" then those 10 points gifted to CP by Hornet turnovers to start the game made this a lot closer than it was. I'll add on that the last circus TD made the score a lot closer too. It was a total dog fight as CP came out for the 2nd half really fired up...but our defense did hold them in check (or at least it felt that way) until Safron put the game away late in the 4th with the 2nd Norrise TD. Then a good kick return followed by that circus play on 4th down got us to the final score.

I'm not trying to down play CP at all. They have talent and is a really good team, but our defense stiffened up when it needed even though CP had some good stats at the end of the night. Hell the biggest stop of the night was forcing a CP FG off of the 2nd Hornet turnover and then following it up with a stopped 4th and short inside the Hornet 10 on the next drive. Our defense brought it, did what I didn't think was possible and forced some 3 and outs, and one of the big yardage plays didn't mean a whole lot (Broadous' long run on the last play of the half that was good for about 40+ yards).

Bottom line is this game could have easily been a Hornet blowout, and a worst a close CP win. The Hornets did not score any points off of the CP turnovers (kudos to the CP defense for playing much better in the 2nd half) but they had no trouble moving the ball through the air. Lots of things to take from this game by either side and a numerous amount of ways to spin it one way or the other.

Do I think this game means CP is not a contender? Absolutely not.
