When was the last time Montana wasn't in the top 25? 1995?

Montana won the National Championship in '95...I would guess it was before 95.

I have read all the posts and many points made by Griz fans and others are valid. I think that in a game like the NAU game no one has all the answers. It was certainly a game of two halves. At halftime I thought the Griz would put up another 21 points and we would have a blow out. They are capable of doing so. However, whether you compliment the Jacks for good defensive plays or you castigate a young QB and a senior RB for 5 turnovers....it is what it is. Yes the last TD made the bottom line look better and so you could argue that the score really wasn't that close. But you could answer that the Griz did not give up and possibly the QB change should have been made and the outcome might have been different.

A loss is a loss and no excuses. The Jacks are a good team and it appears that the BSC has a lot of good teams. You better bring your hardhat ever week or you are going to get rolled.

We Griz fans are going to be riding this roller coaster all season. With this much talent and this much youth it is going to be crazy. We will have some wins that shock us and some losses that shock us.

I am very afraid of the game with EWU. Logically, they should roll the Griz. But I will never count this Griz team out of a game until the final seconds are on the clock. :thumb:
Why should they roll the Griz when they struggled to put away a very down Weber? :?
Two things. EWU's close win over Weber shows you how difficult it is to win on the road. EWU is at home.

EWU's strength plays into UM's weakness which is pass defense. It seems that EWU has a decent rushing attack also which makes it more imperative that the Griz secondary step up.

The only way that I see the Griz winning this game is to cut out the turnovers, establish a solid running game for the WHOLE game, improve on the passing game and shut down EWU's passing game. I think the Griz are capable of improving on a couple of these areas but I am not certain they can accomplish all of them.

I didn't say it was impossible and I will not discount the talent and the possibility that youth + talent + lessons learned = a complete game and a win. I said "logically" I believe EWU should win this game. I certainly hope I am proven wrong.

Agree for the most part. A strong pass rush is going to be critical to making up for our less than stellar secondary play.

I don't think that a homecoming game is a bonus unless you play a cupcake. They seem to provide more distractions than benefits.

And NAU was certainly no cupcake.

Is Weber really down? They've played two good FBS teams, and two ranked FCS teams.

Compared with where they were when they beat us ('08) I would say so. I don't think they've ever fully recovered from that shallacking by W&M in the playoffs in '09 or '10.

FIFY.

Then I wouldn't consider them down, but back to where they normally are... a tough team that usually finishes around 6-5. They were at their best in 2008.

Wait, we had a team in 2010? I guess I conveniently blocked that out.

Like a defense with 9 new starters and an offense with 5 new starters? Naw, that couldn't possibly be it. :|
Had your knuckles white until the last play, though, didn't they?

It's about the best I could ever feel about a loss  EWU had to resort to a fluke play to pull out the victory. The onside kick worked...usually, they don't :thumb: Not saying there's anything wrong with it, mind you...they needed it and executed.

Glad it worked out for everybody then, because I feel great about it too. :D
