No- I would suspend them until the situation is resolved. I'm fairly indifferent. I can see it both ways, whether you take the proactive stance or the reactive stance. I think everyone would prefer to see a proactive position being taken but it's wishful thinking, in my opinion. Coaches want to make sure a door is closed instead of closing it themselves. That's why Bohl is waiting. And why a lot of other coaches wait when it comes to legal issues of this caliber. (Obviously more serious stuff requires the immediate removal of the player, but this doesn't fit the bill as "more serious" to me.)grizzaholic wrote:So do you approve of the way he is handling the situation?rkwittem wrote:What a surprise that resident NDSU hater Darell breaks the story...slow day at the bottom of the Big Sky?![]()
To answer the other questions on the thread...Williams is their best defensive player and Ojuri is the lead RB. They would be huge losses, absolutely.
My bet is that Bohl does just what Clenz predicts...waits until the day in court, plays them in what figures to be a loss against CSU and then suspends them against Prairie View A&M.

I very much doubt that...as it applies to championshipsubdivision.com. I don't spend much time on AGS, but ever since JBB and lakes got the boot, the number of NDSU threads here has been lower than it was when they were still around.grizzaholic wrote:And if this had happened at UND there would be 300 threads here and on AGS by Bison fans making jokes and pointing out the situation.rkwittem wrote:What a surprise that resident NDSU hater Darell breaks the story...slow day at the bottom of the Big Sky?![]()

I also disagree that if it happened at UND, it would even be discussed. There's only one UND fan that regularly comments here and UND is for all intents and purposes a mostly irrelevant FCS team- they don't drive much discussion in the FCS forum here. I know you were going for hyperbole when you said there would be "300 threads," but I don't think there would be more than 1 at most if this had happened at UND. I'm sure a few NDSU folks would crack jokes here and elsewhere.

Maybe he meant 300 threads on Bisonville since there is a new one on UND almost everyday. For being an irrelavant FCS team your fan base has a thing for UND. Most NDSU fans are civil when it comes to AGS or CS but on Bville its like a Lakes family reunion.rkwittem wrote:I very much doubt that...as it applies to championshipsubdivision.com. Look on the bright side . . . . at least the charges were not Class1 Felonies
and the indictments didn't involve sexual assault, major drugs, B&Es, pedophilia, etc.
Were these guys part of a group circulating petitions? Would this not be a matter where the DA would have to show individual intent to commit fraud? We need a web site lawyer - heh heh
I think it will look worse for them if they simply copied names and addresses out of a registry or phone book - especially if they did it in alphabetical order!

The players were paid $9 an hour to gather signatures for two citizen initiatives, which sought to set up a state conservation fund and make marijuana legal for medical treatments. Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem said many of the petition signatures were copied from phone books or fabricated.
Bison coach Craig Bohl said the players have cooperated with investigators and any team discipline will be decided after they finish legal proceedings. The players will be eligible to play this weekend against Colorado State, he said.
The citizen initiatives advocated creating a new state conservation fund, financed by a share of North Dakota’s burgeoning oil tax collections, and the legal use of marijuana to treat symptoms of debilitating illnesses.
Supporters of the conservation initiative paid a consulting firm $145,000 to collect the petition signatures it needed to qualify for the ballot. The measure’s chairman, Stephen Adair, a regional director for Ducks Unlimited in Bismarck, said about $500,000 in television advertising time had already been booked for the fall campaign.
Adair said he felt “sick to my stomach” when he learned of the alleged fraud over the weekend. Stenehjem said the sponsoring committees of the conservation and marijuana initiatives were not themselves suspected of fraud.
The attorney general said 11 people in all face misdemeanor charges in connection with the alleged fraud. The charges carry a maximum penalty of a year in jail and a $2,000 fine.
Aside from the eight NDSU football players, those accused include a former Bison footballer, a woman and a man who is not connected with NDSU’s football program.

In reality, I would suspend the players now and get the backups some good experience, just in case they needed for the long-haul. If you suspend them later, it could be playoff time and too late to get the backups the wish-they-had experience.

Which Wisconsin players were out?Gil Dobie wrote:They will be suspended for the UNI game I bet. It will be like Wisconsin where some of the players were out.
They sure as hell weren't out on offense
Danny O'Brien started and played entire game at QB
Montee Ball and James White played entire game
Jared Abberderis played entire game and was Wisky's top pass catcher
The two deep Wisconsin put out before the season matches up perfectly with who played.

A judge Wednesday slapped the defunct grass-roots community organizing group ACORN with a maximum $5,000 fine for its role in a voter registration compensation scheme in the 2008 election cycle.
District Judge Donald Mosley was confined by statute to fine only the corporation, which pleaded guilty in April to one count of felony compensation for registration of voters.
Mosley said that if there were an individual standing before him, and not a corporation, that person would have been given a 10-year prison sentence, "and I wouldn't have thought twice about it."
The judge chastised the now-bankrupt corporation for making a "mockery" of the nation's election process. "This isn't a banana republic," Mosley said.

IMO, this wouldn't be such a big story if Bohl hadn't just weeks ago tossed from the team an oft-injured, likely 3rd string linebacker for being investigated for a Class A misdemeanor. When "stars" like Williams and Ojuri actually get charged with a Class A misdemeanor, they are apparently afforded the due process that Jemison was denied.................
