Gravity is just a theory, too. Should they refrain from teaching that, or just provide a biblical alternative? ;)

Liberty isn't going to be teaching students that the Earth is 6000 years old if they want to keep their accreditation. Then again, they do offer a minor in "Creation Studies." :?

At any rate, it's clear the winner of the evolution/creationism debate has no chance of besting NDSU in the playoffs.

Liberty has the highest accreditation possible, Venus. It's kinda hard to go from THAT level to NO accreditation.

I didn't really specify one way or the other, but anyway…

At any rate, my point is that they aren't teaching that the Earth is 6000 years old (as far as I know). If they do, they will likely have problems.

I'm gonna take an early stab at this. I'm majorly p!$$ed that my Hornets won't be involved. As I've noted before, it's easier for me to figure it with the thing seeded all the way through. It would probably look quite a bit different if I regionalized it. But here's how I see the bracket right about now....

Opening Round

20 Norfolk St @ 19 Jacksonville
14 Cal Poly @ 13 UNH
16 Jacksonville St @ 15 UCA
18 AL St @ 17 Albany

Sweet Sixteen

19 Jacksonville @ 1 NDSU
9 Liberty @ 8 Montana
12 Towson St @ 5 GA Southern
14 Cal Poly @ 4 UNI
15 UCA @ 3 App St
11 Wofford @ 6 Maine
10 SHSU @ 7 Lehigh
17 Albany @ 2 Montana St

Quarterfinals

8 Montana @ 1 NDSU
5 GA Southern @ 4 UNI
6 Maine @ 3 App St
7 Lehigh @ 2 Montana St

Semifinals

8 Montana @ 4 UNI
3 App St @ 2 Montana St

Finals

4 UNI vs 2 Montana St

You do realize that they neither regionalize or seed the entire field right?

The committee picks the top 5 for seeds and then the next best 7 to get to the 12 teams who get byes.

Then they match the bottom 8 teams up based on location and bid amounts.

I've been to the creationist museum at Liberty when I dated an LU gal. While I didn't see anything that specifically said the Earth was 6000 years old, the artifacts in there such as the trilobite and dinosaur fossils were labeled as a few thousand years. Granted this was a few years back so the accreditation group may have told them to stop, but I'm sure LU students/alum will back me up on this.

When, in science, someone says theory they are talking about definition 1. When you make your above statement you are using definition 2. These are from the OED.
1. A scheme or system of ideas or statements held as an explanation or account of a group of facts or phenomena; a hypothesis that has been confirmed or established by observation or experiment, and is propounded or accepted as accounting for the known facts; a statement of what are held to be the general laws, principles, or causes of something known or observed.
2. A hypothesis proposed as an explanation; hence a mere hypothesis, speculation, conjecture; an idea or set of ideas about something; an individual view or notion.

Bologna.... You were losing credibility at EWU and Sac State. You jumped the shark at Weber. Cal Poly is a good team and had they not scheduled 2 bowl winning FBS schools and a DII, there would be no doubt from anyone that they are a playoff team

No ODU?! I realize that if ODU finishes the season with 7 wins they won't be in but I gotta believe AT THIS POINT, IF THE SEASON ENDED TODAY ODU would be in.

Locks in my mind are bolded
On the bubble or in tight conference race in italics
Conference- (number of playoff teams)

CAA-(4)
Maine
UNH-1 more win & in
Towson- 1 more win & in
ODU-Solid win this week, still think they need to win one more to lock up a spot
JMU- No strong wins in conference, needs at least 2 wins to be eligible.

SoCon-(3)
GSU
App St.
Wofford
Furman-Needs to upset App St. to get in
Samford-Only losses are to top 3 in conference and probably Auburn

MVFC-(4)
NDSU
UNI
Ill St.- Win next week could put them in, but I could also see them upsetting UNI to get in. W vs Ind St./L @ YSU
Ind St.- Needs 2 wins, if not this week it will happen the last two weeks. W vs YSU/ L @ Ill St.
YSU- Needs an upset @UNI or @NDSU to have hopes of getting in. W vs Ill St./ L @ Ind St.

BSC-(2)
MSU
UM

Southland-(1)
SHSU
UCA-Needs to win out

Patriot-(1)
Lehigh
Georgetown upset @ Lehigh would lock it up. Need a W vs Fordham.

OVC-(1)
TTU
EKU
Jax St.
UT-M
- All teams battling for auto-bid

NEC-(1)
Albany- Receives auto-bid unless losses 2 of last 3
Dequesne

MEAC-(1)
Norfolk St.-Both teams control their own destiny for auto-bid
Morgan St.

Big South-(1)
Liberty- Winner on Nov 19th will decide auto-bid
SB

GWFC-(1)
CP- Win out & they are in
For the strength of the Herd is the Bison and the strength of the Bison is the HERD

I just took a quick glance of all the teams around the country and not a lot are going to be reaching the 7 D-1 win mark this season...maybe about the same as last year if not less. At this point, it looks like 7 wins from one of the power conferences will get you in (like last year).

ODUalum11: I certainly considered ODU. Right now, I see them as a coin flip with UNH. The Monarchs could very easily not only make it in but make noise, too. With a 20-team limit and 13 autobids, it's hard to fit all of the worthy teams. In addition, they might also get in if I included the selection rules danefan mentioned that I didn't know about.

It's actually 10 autobids, and I'm gonna stand by my assertion that 7 D1 wins from a power conference will get you in. Like I said above, it's lookin' like less teams will reach it than last season, and I think 28 did last year (of which all the 7-4 power teams were included).

Almost... Montana was 7-4 with one of those wins being over a D-2 team. A technicality, yes, but just wanted to point it out.

Very well could have INSU, ILSU, and YSU all finish 7-4 on the year. INSU beat YSU, but lost to ILSU. ILSU beat INSU, but lost to YSU. And finally YSU beat ILSU, and lost to INSU.

If they all finish 7-4, it would likely mean the best wins for each would be the following:
INSU: Blowout over WKU
ILSU: Win over INSU
YSU: Win over UNI or NDSU

If this plays out, I would think 2/3 get in from the MVFC. Will be interesting to see which ones would sneak in.

Depending on the poll, UNI was either 1 or 2 and NDSU was fairly close to that at 3 or 4. The score was VERY close. To drop them clear out of the seeds for THAT is egregious in my book.
