is 2013 a 12 game yr, is this the reason for 2 fbs?
Cal Poly also has a home game with Yale in 2013. I bet they will schedule a second FCS OOC game in 2013.

2013 could be a tough year to get 7 wins. I am glad UND stopped the 2 year FBS schedules after this year. I would rather get the FCS win and get into the playoffs than go 0-2 vs the FBS, unless you get those FBS teams that are at the bottom of their conference.

I agree because of the playoffs. I hate seeing a DII team on the schedule because they hurt your playoff chances. If the NCAA would allow one DII team to count towards the playoffs (like they let a FCS game to count toward bowl elligibility for a FBS team) I would not mind them as much.Darell1976 wrote:Definately!!Hambone wrote: Flip side is that I would rather have 2 FBS games than 1 FBS and a D2 at home. Re: Cal Poly to play 6 FBS teams over the next 5 years
I'm against playing any D2 teams because they are non-counters. I am against playing FBS teams where there is no chance of winning. For both Cal Poly and UC Davis, joining the Big Sky gives us a great chance of filling in schedules with more FCS teams.
Re: Cal Poly to play 6 FBS teams over the next 5 years
UNI has 6 FBS games scheduled over the next 5 years, with rumors of it going to 7 or 8

Z, just for the hell of it why don't you look up the all time series between Wyoming and UM. It ain't pretty, and I do believe there is a goose egg listed on one side of that. Gotta remember, Wyoming is not great very often, but is spotless against the FCS.
Idaho State beat them back in the 70s, but that was before the new alignment.

Re: Cal Poly to play 6 FBS teams over the next 5 years
Oh, I'm well aware of that, Wedgie. In fact, it's a bone of contention with me. But the reason I want to play Wyoming is because they're in our back yard. I really think FBS games against Wyoming, Utah State, Utah, BYU, Boise, Idaho and Washington State would get HUGE draws of Griz fans....and while there's some tough competition on that list, there's also some winnable games occasionally....and I'd LOVE the Griz to have another crack at dropping that goose egg.Wedgebuster wrote:Z, just for the hell of it why don't you look up the all time series between Wyoming and UM. Or you could schedule Oregon State, get paid $400k+ and walk away with a win. Just sayin’.SloStang wrote:I agree. The thing you got to love about Montana's FBS games is they come with a very large check. Wyoming, Colorado State and New Mexico State may be a winnable games, but they do not pay like Tenn., Iowa or Oregon.
Also not a bad FBS slate for CP. Those are definitely winnable. As far as Sac State is concerned, I hope we keep it to one FBS game a season. Seeing as we are scheduling Pac-20 teams, it looks like that will be the case.

that is going to present some winnable games for CP. I like the schedule.

Just one problem with this logic. Who defines "no chance of winning?" Have you already forgotten about App over Michigan, Sac over Oregon State, and EWU coming THIS close to beating Washington?GoAgs72 wrote:I'm against playing any D2 teams because they are non-counters. Cal Poly has a good track record playing FBS games over the past several years, including victories in two of the last three contests at San Diego State.JBB wrote:Big **** deal.

Weber State has scheduled two FBS games per year for the past several seasons, and has come away with no victories and smallish paychecks.
The Wildecats, have played close versus Wyoming and Colorado State over the past three years, though, having lost three winnable games by an average of roughly the home field advantage.

After the humiliating 23-17 loss at home to D-II Humboldt, I assume you are even more against playing D-II games eh?GoAgs72 wrote:I'm against playing any D2 teams because they are non-counters.
