I understand Grimes is a senior and he returns kicks, so those are in his favor over a sophomore who doesn't return kicks, but for just the RB position it seems odd. They both had similar receiving numbers last year and Pierce rushed for almost 40 more yards per game than Grimes. If you're already listing kickoff returners separately, then how much do kick returns factor into running backs?
UD had a cupcake OOC regular season (no I-A and a Div II) vs W&M's (a I-A no Div II) which skewed those stats some. Didn't Pierce rush for something like 500+ in those 3 OOC games?

Looking at CAA games only (as already has been mentioned, Grimes sat out most of Maine game):

RUSHING Team Cl G Att Yds Avg TD Long Yds/G
----------------------------------------------------------------
1. Jonathan Hernandez.. UMAS JR 8 159 697 4.4 4 32 87.1
2. Andrew Pierce....... DELA FR 8 179 665 3.7 8 38 83.1

4. Pushaun Brown....... MAIN JR 8 121 576 4.8 5 40 72.0
5. Jonathan Grimes..... W&M JR 8 145 569 3.9 4 25 71.1

7. Steve Probst........ URI JR 8 122 491 4.0 4 58 61.4
8. Dontra Peters....... UNH SO 7 84 379 4.5 4 51 54.1
9. Chris Whitney....... VU SR 8 105 408 3.9 10 45 51.0

Pierce rushed for 12 more yards per game than Grimes, but Grimes had a higher ypc at 3.9 to Pierce's 3.7. Plus, UD had a better o line than W&M. UDs o-line was 2nd only to Nova's)

I saw UD 6x on TV and once in person, and saw W&M 3x on TV and once in person (plus what I saw of Grimes in 08' and 09'). If I had to pick a RB out of the CAA I would still take Grimes, then Hernandez then Pierce. Hernandez was impressive considering he was splitting time with Griffin, and the UMass o-line wasn't as good as UD's either.

That being said I think if all 3 backs stay healthy Pierce will lead the CAA in rushing since UD barring injuries will have the best OL in the CAA, and UD will probably be a little more run oriented without Devlin.

Grimes is a stud. I haven't seen Pierce, but I thought Grimes was better than Omar Cuff, who I thought was pretty good.

Murray State QB is on SmallCollege's Payton watch list. With the Hatcher Attack offense he has the potential to put up fantasy league numbers this year. Brockman only started the last 6 games of the season as a true sophomore and AVERAGED 350 passing YPG with 15 passing TDs. MSU fans are as excited about football for 2011 as they have been since the Houston Nutt era.

Liberty and EWU both with 4 guys listed. If we don't make the playoffs this year I may go into hiding.

MWILL , aka Marcus Williams at NDSU for CB. kid was amazing as a freshman last year, including a pick 6 in the NDSU/EWU game. He is the best DB in Miss Valley for sure.

DJ is nice at RB, ill agree that 2nd team is fine for him.

Preston Evans at LB or Coulton Boyer at DL shouldve got looks at 2nd team.

Okay, well, Idaho State has 3 on the first team. What do you think that's good for? Runner up in the Big Sky?

IMO, unless you got a couple of good ones on the d-line, at QB and RB they don't guarantee anything.

Hoping Liberty will be able to gain some respect from across the nation with the good representation of AAs. Should definitely be a special year.

Agree with your point, but two of those guys are on 1st team Special Teams, because ISU is always punting or returning kicks after your opponents score...

Number of reps; that's why Moore and Hetherington are on the 1st team?

I could be wrong, but for PK it looks like you just took the top guy from the NCAA stats which is sorted by FG/ game. Liberty's guy missed 7 field goals. Nobody in the country has a higher FG's made % with as many attempts as GSU's Adrian Mora. He's 24th in attempts and 5th in %. The guys in front of him in % have 12,12,11 and 11 attempts to his 21.

ming01 wrote:How about Mike Paulus at 2nd team QB?
Mike didn't play enough last year to merit preseason mention. When he did play, he was impressive, particularly against his former teammates at UNC. He suffered a shoulder injury on the second to last play at UNC and was lost for the season. Missed the spring after surgery in December, but is expected to be full strength in August. His progress since arriving at W&M in January of 2010 has been fun to watch. I don't know how they coach QBs at UNC, but his game has come a long way working under Dave Corley and Jimmye Laycock. I've seen alot of good arms over the years at W&M, but none better than Paulus.

Yup, just being money seemingly isn't good enough... and I guarantee you nobody hit a more impressive kick than the 45 yarder into a 20 mph wind against SCSU in the playoffs.

Liberty fans have been pretty good at the hiding game since they got eliminated from the 2010 FCS Elim. Game....which I was promised wouldn't happen.

Those that did stick around got good at the hiding game when Liberty missed the playoffs last year....

I've been here. Lefty has been here. A few others as well.

I've been here since our season was over as well. Just not as much to say. Now that a new season is around the corner I'll be posting more as I'm sure other LU fans will.

Didn't forget him. I have him on my 3rd team. Most of the players people have posted were on my 3rd team and a couple were on my 4th team.
