I know the ESPN announcers were saying something about the yellow line not lining up exactly with the actual marker. Could have something to do with it.kalm wrote:Wrong.89Hen wrote: Incorrect. The video evidence is very clear.
I just watched it a second ago and the original yardage marker's point was right on the 22. That's where the ball was re-spotted at... right on the 22. First Down Eagles! You, Keeler, and Towson's AD owe that griz fan an apology.

It is sour grapes.
At least Delaware fans can finally move on from whining about the 2007 MEAC refs. Now they can whine about 2010.
I wonder if Keeler has manned up to any degree and accepted any piece of responsibility for allowing Eastern Washington to come back from a 19 point deficit?

I've watched it a bunch of times as well and it IS NOT clear either way cuz it looks like he had the football right there but saying it is clearly not a first down or it clearly is is just silly talk. From where it was spotted by the ref it looks like it was though.kalm wrote:Wrong.89Hen wrote: Incorrect. The video evidence is very clear.

The marker was past the hash mark in the original spot and short of the marker in the respot. It couldn't be more clear. This one is a little tougher out of context of the video, but it shows the ball (circled) short of the hash mark. The line draw is where the marker was in the first image... at the left edge of the hashmark. BTW, it also shows how there is no way the ref on the UD sideline should have been making the original spot.

Oh come on, show me even one instance where a Delaware fan complaining about the '07 MEAC refs has ever said that it had an impact on who won that game. There's no shame in complaining about those refs, they were terrible, and there was widespread agreement about that. But no one has ever said that the MEAC refs were the reason for that loss.Skjellyfetti wrote:It is sour grapes.

Oh, and Keeler has manned up about why UD lost this year - you'd probably have to actually read a story about the game or actually have listened to his post game press conference to know that, so I'll forgive you for not being aware of that. No reason to read actual stories and hear actual press conferences if you can just, instead, make it up on a message board.

That's a great picture hen. Just that his progress may have been slightly deeper than that moment in time. If he was diving and that was the extent of his progress that would be an amazing shot of it.89Hen wrote:The marker was past the hash mark in the original spot and short of the marker in the respot. Watch the video and then comment. I was generous with the forward progress. And half the point of this is to show where the original chains were. Match this up with the first still and you can see that when they moved the ball back to the outside edge of the hash, he was short of the original chain.Ursus A. Everybody was in unison on the terrible fiasco of the MEAC refs and as you say I don't remember any UD fans ever stating that it was a reason for that loss.GannonFan wrote:Oh come on, show me even one instance where a Delaware fan complaining about the '07 MEAC refs has ever said that it had an impact on who won that game. And nobody is saying this spot was the reason for the loss this year. It wasn't a UD fan that made the comment this thread is based on, it wasn't a UD fan that started this thread. I posted the pictures for the sake of accuracy.Ursus A. Horribilis wrote:and as you say I don't remember any UD fans ever stating that it was a reason for that loss.
If you showed my three photos to any reasonable person, they would come to the same conclusion. The markers moved the full width of the hashmark and they made the first down by less than that.

You must have taken my response as accusatory. It was not that at all, just agreeing with GF and what he said in his post.89Hen wrote:And nobody is saying this spot was the reason for the loss this year. I'll rewatch it today or this evening and look again for this with the aid of the picture but I've watched it a dozen times at least and just can't say it was or wasn't. The picture may help for reference.89Hen wrote:Watch the video and then comment. I was generous with the forward progress. And half the point of this is to show where the original chains were. Re: Towson SID responds to criticism
My two cents - worth 3 cents really
1. The runner was short.
2. The refs missed the call to begin (not bad reffing just a tough call) with but were put in between a rock and a hard place once the chains were moved.
3. 1 call didn't lose the game for UD - blowing a 19 point lead in a quarter and half did.
4. Hens fans have been pretty darn good about recognizing #3 and not harping on that one call, this thread included.
