Well sure. From the side of the boat, those swells look docile enough, almost inviting. So you dive in expecting smooth swimming like the 'ol swimmin' hole down the road.
But there's danger in them thar waters I tell ya.
There's worse ways to buy the farm I suppose. I went out doing what I loved so you can take comfort in that.
Don't hate bowls, I just have no interest in them. I think the majority of them are extemporaneous and cynical, but that alone doesn't keep me from watching them. No complicated agenda here. It's just that my alma mater plays FCS FB, so I really only care about the FCS. If you enjoy following the FBS and have the time and inclination to do it with regularity, more power to you. Knock yourself out and enjoy.

All I read on here is how the NCAA and ESPN doesn't give FCS respect, the bowl games suck, the BCS is a blight to college football, the FCS playoffs is the only thing that is good and honorable in college football, and the FCS champion is the real Division One Champion. Reminds me of those annoying little kids who used to jump up and down yelling "pick me" , "pick me" while choosing sides for touch football back in elementary school.

Outstanding games yesterday, officiating aside. Full stadiums and great TV viewing for these "irrelevant" bowls. Watching Washington manhandle Nebraska, after losing by 35 in the regular season, was fantastic. Udub is a pretty good 7-6 team; their black unis were sharp, too.

So poor matchups create relevance for one of the two teams which can lead to a better game and sometimes an upset. Still a crappy system that devalues an otherwise excellent product.

Still ironic. But you're right, I do need to pay closer attention (a word that itself is ironic in light of this discussion).
Don't particularly care for the current bowl system, but really enjoy the games. I do hate that the FCS format was changed with the game in January as I liked having the FCS Championship played before the major bowl games and NFL opening round playoffs. I feel like this game is getting even more lost that usual with all the other stuff around it and Delaware and EWU deserve better.
