And, how did that turn out!!!!!! VMI DB's drop at least 8 other INT chances, or it would have been more lopsided.

CSU needs to prep for 2011, and let other QB's get reps now. :coffee:

VMI now leads 34 to 16 with barely any time left. I'll bet all 12 people in the HS stands at CSU are really mad.

Not that it matters, but it was an upset. Coming into the season CSU was supposed to be a threat to contend for the title and VMI was to contend with PC for last place. Up until this game those 2 outcomes were still a possibility. Obviously CSU is reeling now and will finish 6th/7th with PC. Looks like VMI will be 5th.

But yes, especially with CSU at home, this was an upset.

Haven't read them yet but don't have to.....Patton will make excuse after excuse after excuse, and never admit defeat, being completely outcoached, and never be gracious to the team that beats us.

PC gets all the credit...great win for them.

I've given Patton more than enough leeway. No more. G-W finally nutted up and made a change, five years too late, in the mens hoops program. A change is now needed with our football program, period. Send Patton on a permanent vacation to Vegas.

Hell of an impression to make on a crowd of over 6,000 on homecoming....and G-W wonders why alumni support for athletics is apathetic at best.

Exactly. CSU fell apart in the 4th. Had we not fallen apart in the 4th of the Liberty game and the Wofford game, we would have been in position to win. As long as you're in position to win, you have as much a chance to win as the other team. That is all you can ask. Heck, we were in position to beat Wofford late in the 4th, and Wofford is better than any team in the Big South.

Penalties and late-game execution are our biggest problems right now. Frankly, it is hard to believe because this is a veteran team with supposedly strong leadership. It is a mental toughness issue. I don't believe our team got physically tired. It was more mentally tired which leads to sloppy play (penalties) and poor late-game execution.
Well the that fact they feel apart in the 4th quarter, leads me and well everyone should see this just as well. But their biggest problem is their strength and conditioning. The majority of their team is out of shape and not fit for FCS football, especially for a full 4 quarters against a superior team.

Does CSU even have the kind of facilities that allow for that kind of conditioning? I don't know much about the school, but it seems as though there is little commitment to football other than what the coaching staff gives and the facilities are often described as equivalent to a high school; that can only get so far in D2, much less FCS.

The school doesn't put a whole lot of effort at all into making their football program better. Not all the coaches at CSU are full-time, and their coaches do not require or even recommend players to stay during the summer to maintain their fitness level. If the school is going to put effort forth to better the program, and the coaches that are there are willing to make necessary changes, then program is practically doomed. Strenth and Conditioning is a key aspect in a team succeeding and CSU clearly doesn't care enough.

Have VMI and Presbyterian both ever won on the same weekend in Big South play?

I wish SB had beaten Lafayette. The way it is going at JMU, Robert Morris will the the only team with a winning record that beat LU. By the time SB get to Lynchburg, the Big South could be the lowest rated conference outside of the MEAC and a non-scholly conference.

Congrats to both Presby and VMI!

It is official, CSU sucks this year. Amazingly they have what is likely the most talented athletes they have ever had but just can't finish. Someone said it is conditioning. That would be the obvious thing to think of, but I am not so sure that is it. Jacoby has a conditioning program that is not for the weak at heart. Anyway I can see the first losing season in 5 years coming before this year is over and that is a shame because there were some very high hopes for this team when the season started.

Well Jacoby does have a conditioning program, weak at heart can obviously survive it; since the current players aren't dead yet. Strength and conditioning aren't their only problem, I'm sure there's plenty more.. But I would definitely think that would be the first thing I'd fix.

.....VMI was missing three defensive starters, plus two O-lineman starters........CSU was down only one starter, at home......I call it "a team victory"........but that's me. :notworthy:
