2010 At-Large Playoff Elimination & Eligibility
Re: 2010 At-Large Playoff Elimination & Eligibility
Presby becomes eligible next year... I know that doesn't matter now but in case you can remember for next year.

I'd say it is a little too early to declare a team from an AQ conference as a *bubble* team -- lotsa football to be played between conference mates.

this is based purely on at-large eligibility. Its simple. If a team is one loss from not being able to get 7 Div I wins, they are on the bubble.Aho Old Guy wrote:I'd say it is a little too early to declare a team from an AQ conference as a *bubble* team -- lotsa football to be played between conference mates.
Re: 2010 At-Large Playoff Elimination & Eligibility
Stony Brook is a dangerous team. There big and have a punishing ground game. I see Liberty as being the biggest test, followed by Jeckyll & Hyde teams Lafayette and Gardner Webb. I fully expect to see SB sniffing the playoffs.Redwyn wrote:Umm, Stony Brook is unlikely to be 6-5. I see us at 7-4 at the very worst.
Final 7 games are:
Presbyterian
Coastal Carolina
Lafayette
VMI
Liberty
Charleston Southern
Gardner Webb
I have them at either 7-4 or 6/5 with at least a tie for the Big South. Good luck the rest of the year...Great game the other night, was impressed with the effort.

blank....cause I can't read, apparently
Re: 2010 At-Large Playoff Elimination & Eligibility
Northwestern State has been moved to the Eliminated category. I had incorrectly credited them with a D1 win for their victory over Tarleton State.

Ok, so I could have left my post in. Come on SIU....have pity on the older set here.SumItUp wrote:Northwestern State has been moved to the Eliminated category. I had incorrectly credited them with a D1 win for their victory over Tarleton State.
Re: 2010 At-Large Playoff Elimination & Eligibility
plus, the "Bayou Classic" between Southern and Grambling State is always scheduled the Saturday after Thanksgiving (and the "Turkey Day Classic" between Tuskegee and Alabama State is always on Thanksgiving), so that eliminates 3 more SWAC schools from playing in the playoffs, even if they were to qualify.UNHWildCats wrote:SWAC teams remain eligible for at large selections, but the division winners meet for the SWAC title. Its unlikely a SWAC team would ever get a at large invite but they do remain eligible.

Ummmm, because you have 3 DI wins already and 6 games left. So, ODU only needs to win 4/6 to stay qualified for an at-large. Bubble teams are 1 loss away from not being eligible.ODUfanRazor wrote:How is ODU not on the bubble?
(Do they even qualify though?)

Re: 2010 At-Large Playoff Elimination & Eligibility
It's surprising to see Indiana State still on the bubble this late in season, but they are having a great season, sitting pretty at 3-2 after beating Illinois State today.
Re: 2010 At-Large Playoff Elimination & Eligibility
Yeah, ISU with a surprising win, losses to only Cincy and WIU, both are fairly understandable. Good stuff from the Syc's.

Week 6
After Week 6, 27 of the 106 FCS teams have been eliminated from consideration for an at-large bid. Elon is the second 2009 playoff participant to be eliminated in the 2010 season. There are now 23 additional teams on the bubble that cannot lose a remaining D1 game.
Bubble Teams (23) - Austin Peay, Bryant, Campbell, Coastal Carolina, Davidson, Drake, Eastern Kentucky, Gardner-Webb, Illinois State, Indiana State, Maine, Monmouth, Morgan State, Murray State, Norfolk State, Sacramento State, Samford, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois, St. Francis (PA), Stony Brook, Virginia Military Institute, Western Carolina
Eliminated in Week 6 - Bucknell, Charleston Southern, Citadel, Delaware State, Elon, Fordham, Howard, Lafayette, Nicholls State, North Carolina Central, North Dakota, Northern Colorado, Sacred Heart, San Diego, Tennessee-Martin, Towson

They have 2 NAIA wins. Don't let their record fool youToTheLeft wrote:Yeah, ISU with a surprising win, losses to only Cincy and WIU, both are fairly understandable. Good stuff from the Syc's.

But they're no longer a game that many of the MVFC teams can totally overlook as an easy "gimme" win either.clenz wrote:They have 2 NAIA wins. While I agree for the most part, I don't think they strike "fear" in anybody except Illinois StateJayJ79 wrote:But they're no longer a game that many of the MVFC teams can totally overlook as an easy "gimme" win either.clenz wrote: They have 2 NAIA wins. Don't let their record fool you

BUBBLE MEANS NOTHING EXCEPT YOUR TEAM CANNOT LOSE ANOTHER GAME AND BE PLAYOFF ELIGIBLE. QUIT COMPLAINING ABOUT BEING THERE OR NOT BEING THERE.

Not saying they're world beaters, just that they're much improved vs. the same old stuff.clenz wrote:While I agree for the most part, I don't think they strike "fear" in anybody except Illinois StateJayJ79 wrote: But they're no longer a game that many of the MVFC teams can totally overlook as an easy "gimme" win either.

I suppose beating the NAIA team you lost too the year before is an improvement for a D1 teamToTheLeft wrote:Not saying they're world beaters, just that they're much improved vs. the same old stuff.clenz wrote: While I agree for the most part, I don't think they strike "fear" in anybody except Illinois State
