Congartulations to Sacramento State for a great victory! I was impressed with the performances of Hilliard and Fleming, among others, but the most impressive aspect of the win was that the Hornets did not fold after Weber's final score. Nicely done! :thumb: :thumb:

Sac won the time of possession 35 minutes to 25.
Held WSU to 95 yards on 25 carries.
Held WSU to only (yes only given what Higgins racked up the past two weeks) 253 pass yards and 2 TD. Higgins was picked once. Fumbled once as well but didn't lose it.

Both teams were horrific on 3rd down. The difference had to be Sac converting 3rd downs when it mattered most. :|
0 sack on Higgins, Hornets only allowed 1. :|
Penalties and yards were about even, but WSU had many costly turnovers that kept a Hornet drive alive that started on our own 1 yard line. I don't remember if we scored on it but it definitely turned the field position battle at least.

Hats off the Hornet D. We needed them to step up big and they did. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Only 6,937 showed up. That is pathetic. :ohno:

With wins....attendance will go UP.
Not likely, no one in Sacramento gives a rats ass about any team in the Big Sky.

That last score by WSU wasnt deserved, they only got it because the ref's gave a bad spot, WSU did not convert that fourth down. :thumb:

Last season Sac beat the then #21 ranked NAU Lumberjacks. But considering how early it is in the season and the expectations of Weber, this win is bigger.

I agree, but I think the more impressive thing was the response by the Hornets. They didn't go into their shell and use the "we were screwed by the refs" excuse. They followed that score by a very impressive, time consuming drive for the winning TD. They answered the way a winning team does. It was a gut check and they withstood the test. The Hornets will face another huge test next week in Missoula.
