McGhee sacked for a loss of 15. Big momentum killer. Slow to get up. Kempt coming in for MSU.

WSU with 5 seconds left has driven down to the MSU 41. Wulff calls final timeout.

MSU coach sounds very upbeat at the half. Always nice heading to the locker room up, FBS or FCS.

Coulda just ran it then kicked the FG for the win.
Re: MSU @ Wazzu Game Thread
Ugh, that was a terrible game, I can't believe we won. MSU was a better team than we were today, no question. McGhee's interceptions and poor red zone efficiency by the 'Cats saved us today. At least Paul Wulff is consistent though, at Eastern he led an above average Big Sky Team, and it appears that he is leading an above average Big Sky program in Pullman as well.

Wulff has a knack for beating the Cats, no matter how close they come.Shellin wrote:Ugh, that was a terrible game, I can't believe we won. MSU was a better team than we were today, no question. Wish that weren't the case this time though.
Re: MSU @ Wazzu Game Thread
Coach Ash said that they were going to stay aggressive, but was rethinking his decision not to run. WSU made the plays down the stretch, I didn't see any blatant misreads or mistakes by MSU. There were some small things we need to correct but for a Freshman QB facing a Pac 10 defensive line all game (and they had some players that were just trucking over our offensive lineman on some plays) he didn't do too bad.
Our running game actually got better from last week and it probably helped establish our RB depth chart for once.
I think that playing a DII one week and jumping up and playing a BCS conference school the next week kind of confirmed somethings we are doing good and will help us get an honest evaluation of where we are at going forward..
All I know is that I like our quarterback and for the most part he outplayed WSU qb..

Re: MSU @ Wazzu Game Thread
Agreed. From what I heard while listening to the feed, McGhee is a great QB and should be among the top in the conference for this year and years to come. Ash knew he should've have called run on that 2nd or 3rd and short that ended in a pick and MSU's chance for a win. That game was in the bag for the Cats. I blame that one on Ash. Still, great showing by MSU, and leaves a cluster fuck at the top of the BSC with NAU, EWU, MSU, SAC and UM all with a win over D-II and loss to FBS (well except for UM, with a loss to CP). Weber leads for now with a gut-wrenching win over UNC in triple OT, as they are the only ones to play a conference opponent (and win). Next week will be real interesting with 4 BSC matchups.bpcats wrote:Coach Ash said that they were going to stay aggressive, but was rethinking his decision not to run.
