For the most part unless they're playing an OOC team that I legitimately like. Its nice to have other decent teams in the Big Sky on occasion

The question has probably been ask here before but why not again.
For me the answer would be yes, most of the time. There are times when Furman has been rated in the top ten along with another conference member so I wouldn't have necessarily been supportive of their out of conference efforts. But most of the time I certainly would.
So what about it? Do you cheer for your conference rivals when they are playing a team from another conference?

I always pull for SoCon teams against OOC although I admit to throwing up a little in my mouth when pulling for Elon to win. Same with FCS vs FBS as I feel all FCS are brothers-in-arms against the evil empire of FBS. I've met a lot of great fans from other FCS schools over the years and wish them the best UNLESS they are lining up against App State.

Re: Do you root for your conference mates in ooc games?
I will always root for the other CAA teams in their I-A games.
If I was confident that JMU would go at least 8-3/6-2 then I would root for the all the other CAA in their I-AA OOC because it wouldn't effect JMU playoff wise. But since I'm not confident enough that JMU will do that...
I going to go on the assumption that the CAA will get 4 teams in. Some CAA folks will think 5 with the expanded format, but no way does half the conference get in, which would be the same as 6 back when it was 12 teams.
After Nova there's 5 teams (JMU, W&M, UD, UNH, Maine) that I see as potential bubble teams come playoff time, which would be 7-3 vs I-AA, (assuming none of them win their I-A game (UD has a DII instead)) that will be vying for those likely 3 at large bids from the CAA. Maybe could throw in UR. Its a possibility at the end of the season that 2 CAA teams at 7-3 vs I-AA could be vying for the last at large from the CAA, or 3 teams vying for the last 2 at large from the CAA. Therefore, if JMU ends up being one of those teams, I want to root for the other potential CAA rivals for one of those bubble spots to lose their I-AA OOC games, because if any of them lose one of those games, they'd have to go 6-2 CAA (a very tall order)(assuming they didn't win their I-A game)) to be a bubble team.

Yes, especially with all the Big Sky trash talking that goes on here and AGS. Except for the griz, I really couldnt' care less if they went 0-11.

Yes indeed...the more OOC wins the SLC piles up, the better it is for our league as a whole.

Depends on which team(s). Some I do and others I laugh when they lose. Gonna keep which is which to myself.

I pull for VMI all the time. On the other hand, pulling for Liberty is a necessary evil. I want them to lose, but need them to win for the good of the conference and to sweeten an upset when it happens. 2008 is a great example. ...It's also the last time we won a football game.

YES ABSOLUTELY.
Everytime one of them plays an FBS opponent, and when they play any out of conference foes.
Im Weber State first, Big Sky second. I always want the Big Sky to be represented well.

Re: Do you root for your conference mates in ooc games?
I never ever root against a BSC foe in games. I'm always a big fan of them in fact.During a game I will have all of the same emotions that I do when the Griz play with the only difference being that if they lose I don't feel nearly as bad as I would if the Griz lost.
there are no other teams in the conference worthy of hate so the Griz are in the enviable position of being that team. We are just fine being that team as you have to be following a winner to be raise that kind of ire. Good for us.
Unfortunately for our conference mates they will never know that kind of success. Hell, I actually pity them.

Since the Ivies don't play FBS, I usually root for them...
unless it's a team from the CAA or any of the southern or western conferences. (no peace emoticon here

All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

That is so sad. I like WCU because of my friendship with Catamount Man and I feel badly that WCU is that low on the totem pole that you have that much of an axe to grind. Of course, I have a hankering that you have some funny rolling there so please disregard my previous ramblings. The Cats wrote:Do you root for your conference mates in ooc games?
