Re: Summit and MVFC
Conferences will not kick out a member, unless there is a serious issue (like Chicago State)

Re: Summit and MVFC
Lets get this straight once and for all, the MVC and the MVFC are COMPLETELY SEPERATE ENTITIESdbackjon wrote:The new Summit would instantly be close to MVFC level.
And it is not ALL about football.
If the MVC wants the xDSU's bad enough in the MVFC, then invite them as full members
"full" membership does not exist, as neither conference sponsors a full slate of athletics.

I am quite aware of that, as is everyone else that has posted on this thread.
99% of people would consider "full" membership in the MVC as to what UNI, ISU, etc have - participation in all sports that the MVC offers.

and "full" membership in the MVC does not include football, because the MVC does not offer footballdbackjon wrote:OSBF wrote:

Correct. Creighton, Bradley, Evansville, Wichita State, and Indiana State (OSBF wrote:and "full" membership in the MVC does not include football, because the MVC does not offer footballdbackjon wrote:

UNI doesn't sponsor men's soccer, mens tennis, baseball, and a couple other sports that the MVC sponsors, but that doesn't make us less of a member.
Re: Summit and MVFC
The two divisions called the NCC and Gateway is a great idea.
It doesnt have to wait for a 12th member. Divisions would rotate against each other to balance schedules.

What constitutes a "full slate of athletics"?OSBF wrote:"full" membership does not exist, as neither conference sponsors a full slate of athletics.
Some conferences don't sponsor wrestling, others don't sponsor softball, many don't sponsor field hockey or lacrosse, and most don't sponsor mens volleyball.
In fact, I don't think there is any single conference that sponsors all 36 NCAA-sanctioned sports:
Baseball
Basketball (M&W)
Bowling
Cross Country (M&W)
Fencing
Field Hockey
Football
Golf (M&W)
Gymnastics (M&W)
Ice Hockey (M&W)
Indoor T&F (M&W)
Lacrosse (M&W)
Outdoor T&F (M&W)
Rifle
Rowing
Skiing
Softball
Soccer (M&W)
Swimming & Diving (M&W)
Tennis (M&W)
Volleyball (M&W)
Water Polo (M&W)
Wrestling

I see lakesbison is just as charming there as here/AGS

USD/UND bring nothing, absolutely NOTHING to the table with their football/basketball programs, they are both atrocious and attendence
is downright embarassing.
Futhermore, NDSU/UNI with Montana/Montana State need to get out of the FCS soon, else its going to be D2 all over again with the implosion of D2 teams recently.
SDSU can never move up, so I guess I understand why you and other SDSU fans are "allright" with UND/USD coming into the conferences because you know you can beat up on them.

Say what you will, Lakes is correct.

Re: Summit and MVFC
As the article stated the Big Sky needs to let us into the conference, i really do not understand what the issue is in that regard. Overall our sport teams are pretty competitive and we are a great geographical fit for the conference. Still think we should have been in over Northern Colorado
.
However in regards to SUU going to the MVFC i would not see a problem with that at all. We are an up and coming team and i feel we could compete really well against alot of the teams currently in the conference, especially do alot better against the Dakota State teams as we are ten times better now then we were when they were in the conference which is why i wouldnt be against the summit league getting football. As long as we get into a much more stable conference ill be okay

Summit and MVFC
The problem with SUU is the fact they are close to no one in the MVFC. Imagine a season where your road games are YSU, SUU, NDSU, MSU, and ISUB.

See why I hate most of you arrogant NDSU fvcks (gil and other few excluded) So frigging arrogant that you refuse to accept SDSU as an equal instead of a little brother who has no chance to compete (WHAT A JOKE) Go live in your fairy make believe land while we beat your asses again

Please don't tell Obama what comes after a Trillion.
Re: Summit and MVFC
Actually I think SDSU can move up and might some day with NDSU. The WAC could come calling you know. I agree with the rest of what Lakes said. I didnt meet anybody that was hostile when I was in Brookings last year.

Re: Summit and MVFC
I completely agree with you...i think that the OVC would reach out and try to snatch a couple teams is for some reason they did run into trouble... SIU, MSU, ILL ST just to name a couple since they are one of the oldest confrences. but on the other side; they would be able to get schools to join as full members a lil faster than the MVFC so EIU, SEMO could end up on their radar. already in the heart of MVFC and some natural rivalries already exsist. NWMS would be a great addition if and when they decide to move up. Nice campus, strong academically, and great recuriting and fan base up in maryvilleUNI31f wrote:Only 3 conferences have less than 8 teams - Big South at 7, GWC at 5, and the Patriot at 7.
The Valley will not go to 7. If that happens the league would disband and teams will join the Big Sky, CAA, Ohio Valley, etc... as affiliates. OR the more likely try to bring back Eastern Illinois, and some other OVC teams and D2 teams looking to move to D1 (Northwest Missouri State, Nebraska Omaha, etc...)
The fact is neither the Summit or MVFC can support football without affiliates because not all the schools in the Summit or MVC play football. The relationship in football works of fairly well. It adds a lot of travel compared to the base MVFC teams, but SDSU and YSU bring good programs now, and NDSU has been a good D2/transition/GWC team.
Re: Summit and MVFC
Summit football with UND, USD and SUU could certainly take over for the GWC. The new Summit League could take football affiliates Cal Poly and Davis.
The MVFC is to Summit Football like the MVC is to Summit basketball and other non-revenue sports. I just cant see the two football leagues joining. An at-large is always going to the GWC.
