2009 first ever trip to the playoffs. Played the defending champ Richmond, in Richmond and lost 16-13.

2006 Won first round game@EIU, lost in 2nd round @YSU. That season forced the AD's hand to give a contract extension to a coach he desperately wanted to get rid of. Had to wait through dismal 07 and 08 seasons before firing him.

I think YSU was in the same situation with their semi run that year.

After playing conference road games in the afternoon and home games at night, we were sent by that wonderful group with a great sense of humor across the country to Delaware for a game starting at 9 am Pacific time. By the time any of the so called "casual Viking fans" were awake, the game was virtually over.

That is Portland State's only playoff appearance since joining 1-AA/FCS.
