Griz put 61 on the #1 Defense, then shut out the # Offense. But we're not very good...

Anyone can score that many points when the other team gifts them 10 turnovers. Come on, that was a joke of a game.

Re: SFA doesn't belong in the playoffs
Yeah. Montana's defense had NOTHING to do with the 10 turnovers. In fact, at least 4 times I saw the SFA guy just hand the ball to the Motana defender. And on 3 of the 5 INT's, SFA's QB locked eyes with his Montana receiver and threw the ball right to him.AppGuy04 wrote:Anyone can score that many points when the other team gifts them 10 turnovers. edit: I wasn't talking about the 51 we put on SFA. I was talking about shutting out the #1 passing offense in FCS.

Read your own statement. "Handing the ball to the Montana defender." If thats not a gift, I don't know what is.AZGrizFan wrote:Yeah. Montana's defense had NOTHING to do with the 10 turnovers. Picking a ball b/c you make a good break is not the same IMO. A QB eyeing his receiver is asking for a pick. Thats a mistake a middle school QB makes.
So looks like 7 of those turnovers had nothing to do with Montana players, they were gifts from SFA and their QB

Re: SFA doesn't belong in the playoffs
I do. And if ASU wins, it won't be because MT is "soft", or played a "soft schedule". It'll be because there's only four teams left and they're ALL good, and any one of them could win the NC and it doesn't mean the other three aren't great teams in their own right.AppGuy04 wrote:Ok AZ, sarcasm is definitely not your forte. I don't know about that, but I do know that your team didn't belong in the playoffs.SuperHornet wrote:Just look at how they got manhandled by the Big Sky. As a matter of fact, SIU and UNH don't belong either.
If there were playoffs for good threads, this thread wouldn't belong. (But it does belong on the smack board).
If there were playoffs for idiot posters, you'd be a high seed.

Do the playoffs remove the "ironic, droll, facetious," post detector out of everyone's brains?
Wasn't here last year at this time so I was just wondering.

I call it good coaching and hitting. Montana has not dropped lineman into coverage all year so the SFA QB did not expect them to be there.. they dropped back and he threw it too them...AppGuy04 wrote:Anyone can score that many points when the other team gifts them 10 turnovers. Re: SFA doesn't belong in the playoffs
to say SFA doesn't belong in the playoffs to me is ridiculous. they took care of business in the regular season and earned the right to play. its not like a computer picked sfa to be in the playoffs.
did they suck yesterday? yes. was it disappointing as a fan to watch them lay a big ol' egg? of course but i'm still damn proud of this team considering where they came from two years ago.
montana has a lot more playoff experience (17 years in a row i think) compared to three trips to the playoffs in 20 years for sfa. The last time SFA made the playoffs these kids were 8 years old or younger. SFA made a lot of mistakes yesterday and a team with the experience that montana has capitalized on it. For SFA to win the game they had to play a mistake free game which didn't happen. They showed they could drive the ball but they couldn't finish. The defense played their butts off for about the first quarter and a half but when you give montana a short field they are bound to score.
Hopefully this was a great learning experience for the underclassmen for SFA and hopefully they can build on it where they have a string of consecutive playoff berths and they will have the experience. I know Moses has one more year and they are returning a talented group of young receivers and I think they are only losing 14 seniors (not sure about this one) but this experience will help them next year.
there is my two cents.

I was just telling Appaholic on the phone that ANY of the three remaining CAA team could likely be the National Champion - were they not forced to play each other

Weber got an impressive 10 against Montana. If SFA was so bad and the BSC so good, why did SFA beat EWU soundly?SuperHornet wrote:Hogwash. They had a bad day, and that's exactly the excuse UNH and SIU is going to use, too. Weber got more points on Montana than SFA did (a whole lot more). And Liberty would have gotten more than a FG, too. It's time for CAA to shut up.

Re: SFA doesn't belong in the playoffs
Turnovers are inevitably either good plays by the defense or bad plays by the offense or both. Turnovers are not a joke, many teams spend a major part of their practice time working on takeaways because they are so critical to the game outcome. Anyone with any football knowledge knows that; you must be excluded from that group.AppGuy04 wrote:Anyone can score that many points when the other team gifts them 10 turnovers.
