Coming from 2-5 to 5-5 is a good sign for me. I'm celebrating improvement in a season where I thought we would be what I thought we were. At 2-5, I didn't know how the team would hold up, or even show up the rest of the season. Thorpe is only getting better, and we have him for another three years. IF the Dukes win next week, I will be even happier... you may know why Z.


Coming from the stigma, perception and actual performance of the JMU team prior to Justin Rascati and Mickey Matthews... 6 straight winning seasons is actually a significant accomplishment for the Dukes. I wouldn't say DJ is celebrating mediocrity so much as the JMU football team doing something they've never done before. We're not delusional to enough to celebrate a mediocre season. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with what we've done so far after what we lost from last season. JMU has really only lost one game this year that I thought we shouldn't have... otherwise it's been three top five FCS teams and a FBS opponent. This is where most of us thought we would be. We're just happy to see that the young players on the team are starting to click (or maybe that's just me).

Granted, the 1st 3 are better defenses, but wow, he has made a HUGE improvement.

Plus aginst UMass Thorpe had a season high 89 yds on 20 carries. Take off the sack, and it was 19 for 101. He was better on the belly option and pitch option reads.

Yeah, we can speculate about that after the game has happened, but you start running into the IF factor. Prior to the Richmond Nova games, I thought best case scenario we would win one... most likely lose both. IF Thorpe hadn't of fumbled, all signs pointed towards a Dukes TD, but I don't consider losing to UR something I didn't expect from the start.
