Damn....those are the kind of numbers you get playing Madden on Playstation on amateur level....

I wish I had watched 1-AA football back then...
In his second game, he wasn't even the starter and we were at Oregon he came in in the second quarter and almost led out of a hole and late in the 4th quarter we were threatening in the red zone to take the game away. He completed a pass to Billy Cockhill to put us down at the 10...but we got called for holding I think it was and put us back...we didn't score but Autzen was on pins and needles.

The sports writer in Eugene raved about Dickensen in the paper the next day. Me and a buddy were sitting in a Diner in Eugene eating breakfast before getting back on the road and U of O fans kept stopping by the table and saying "Holy shit, I've never seen anything like that Dickensen guy!"

The sportswriter commented on him that "I think we are witnessing the second coming of Doug Flutie".

In a four year High school career and a three year college career I think he only lost 5 or 6 games.
Hehe...Cockhill....hehe....

At one time, Neil Lomax held 90 NCAA records, including throwing 7 touchdowns... in one quarter.

Trying to do a statistical rundown for Lomax in I-AA (3 years at PSU):

11,550 yards
350 yards a game
57.9% completion percentage
88 TDs vs 50 Ints
Finished 7th in the Heisman voting in 1980, MVP of senior bowl.

As a senior, threw for 4,094 yards in 11 games (372 yards a game), 37 TDs, 12 Ints, 62.6% completion. Beat Delaware State 105-0. :)

Of course this is all with him playing less than half a game 4 times in 1980, I can't find out if he did that any other years.

Then again, PSU is one of the founders of the run and shoot offense. Pretty crazy all the records he broke, though.

You just hate that a Griz player is topping the list right now. :coffee:

Just want to throw another name in since he doesn't get much recognition (not saying he's the best all time). Willie Totten, Mississippi Valley, everybody knows Jerry Rice but I don't think Totten gets the respect he deserves.
Senior Year numbers:
358 of 593 for 5,043 yards and 58 touchdowns Career 139 TDs and 75 INTs

as a young kid I knew I was watching something special. and the level of talent in the SWAC then was so much greater than it is now. (I know I've said that alot but when you look back you can totally see a difference)

My vote goes to Dave. Armanti is close but Dave was pure genius, crafty just magic on the field. I still believe that if he had been a few inches taller, and a few pounds heavier that he would have been a Hall of Fame NFL QB.

Here is his stats with playoffs included which they did not count back then but do now.

1,015 of 1,477 passes (68.7%) for 13,486 yards with 116 touchdowns and only 26 interceptions, and was responsible for 137 total touchdowns (116 passing and 21 rushing).

In 1995 Dickenson's senior season, he threw for 5,676 yards not to mention he probably ran for a few hundred more. He was a better runner than people remember. Not anywhere near the cailber of Edwards but he was crafty and sneaky fast to get smart yards, when available.

But with the game on the line and one QB to choose I would take DD, and then Armanti. Maybe Armanti wan't quite as good as a QB but he still as good of a winner he has that same magical drive that Dave has that nothing will stop him.

Oh except the Griz in Zoo town..... Sorry couldn't resist, what a game, my favorite of all time (that game Armanti was amazing, almost single handedly winning the game on his own), amongst at least a hundred that I have seen in person, and for those who are not Griz fans just don't understand what magical games we have witnessed in our magical stadium. I invite all to come at least once we don't discriminate against outsiders you will have a blast.
