I predicted this in the offseason and predicted the same thing here on the poll. It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Southern Utah beat NAU next weekend. This game has gone down to the wire four years in a row. It's the closest thing NAU has to a rivalry.

NAU has done what it has to do up to this point...win the games on its schedule. People keep saying that NAU lucked out not having to play EWU and MSU. Yeah, you're probably right. But EWU and MSU lucked out not having to play NAU as well.

If NAU and EWU both win out, I predict EWU gets the higher playoff seed courtesy of a stronger strength of schedule.

Well, to be fair I would be surprised to see SUU beat NAU. They are so hot and cold. The thing is, when they are hot they are a dangerous team.

They've had a very advantageous schedule. Does anyone really think EWU wouldn't hang at least 50 on ISU? Unfortunately we don' have the benefit of playing the ISU or UNC's of the world this season. NAU really hasn't been tested so far and has no playoff experience in recent history. All I'm saying is let's see how things play out the next couple of weeks before we annoint the Lumberjacks the Kings of the hill.
I wasn't talking up SUU that much. I merely said that they beat EWU last weekend.

The transitive property doesn't work in sports.

NAU's schedule vs. FCS teams has been advantageous. But they've done what they had to...win the games scheduled. Though, five wins in six road games and one of two vs. FBS schools isn't as easy a task as you think.

NAU's lack of playoff experience may bite em. It may not. Gotta wait a few weeks to find out.

Ok, I just looked at NAU's schedule. There's a decent chance UNC would be over .500 at this point against who NAU has played.

Hey, I could see us beating Ft. Lewis, UND, Davis, PSU and ISU (we already beat the last two), which would (theoretically) have us at 5-4. Not saying it would happen, but I'd give us a decent shot in each of those 5 games.

I am so tired of these Eags whining about how easy NAU's schedule is :tothehand:
so I did some analytics because thats what I do in the real world.

EWU beat Idaho who is 1-8 pathetic excuse for a D1 team
NAU beat UNLV 2-8 who although they are better than Idaho , not by much.
EWU lost a close one to Wash State 2-7, not a very good team
NAU got whacked by ASU a very good 5-3 team

I would say it's a draw for the D1 schools they played.

As far as the Big Sky;as of today and counting the opponents they have yet to play;
EWU opponents combined win/loss record is 42-43
NAU opponents combined win/loss record 31-44
* NAU smoked DII Ft Lewis 60-0- that is not reflected in these numbers
Both losing records but EWU's opponents has a better winning %

Mutual opponents Montanna and ND - beat them both
EWU beat Montana 32-26
NAU beat Montana 41-31
EWU beat ND 55-17
NAU beat ND 45-38
So clearly it is not as lopsided as you think or would like it to be....so you feel better. :coffee:
The only other thing I have to say is Go Jacks!!!!

To summarize...

EWU throttled Idaho by 17 in their DI win, NAU squeaked one out against UNLV.
EWU barely lost (by 4) to WSU, NAU got throttled by ASU (by 57!).
EWU's opponents are .500, NAU's are well below... but NAU throttled a bad D-II!!!!
NAU's bandwagon fans feel vastly inferior, because they are.

Pretty even with those Montana and UND scores, although EWU had to come from behind to beat Montana at home while NAU didn't while playing them on the road. And while EWU beat UND by a wider margin and defensively did a lot better at negating their offense that game was played @EWU as well. So not a lot to take away from those games, especially considering neither Montana nor UND are very good teams.

NAU and MSU are basically locks for the playoffs at this point, with EWU having a good shot but needing to take care of business the next couple of weeks. Cal Poly still has a decent shot while Sac is also still alive but not as probable. Going to be an exciting couple of weeks!

I think the alleged rape in question occurred from 1998-2011. :kisswink:

Actualy the Griz should be cheering for NAU. There are a few coaches from Montana on the staff....even one with a ring.

So I guess you can say we are related sorta like third cousins.

We'll be cheering for you to beat MSU so show some love for your incestual cousins. Even Bobby Hauk is cheering for us.

As for the rest of you Haters :jack:

So your point is?
Idaho lost to louisiana tech 70-28  UNLV only lost to louisiana Tech 58-31
Idaho lost to Wyoming in OT and UNLV plays Wyoming
Idaho plays Utah State which UNLV lost to 35-13...

Go back into hibernation Grizalltheway until the MSU game and then you can come out.

We will actually be cheering for you then. So until then don't comment on things you have no right to comment on. We beat you in your house so you are due no respect. We don't expect any kind words from you. Move on over to eGriz :coffee:
