Those were bad seasons, but backsliding? We were consistent and since 2011 we've only improved. Our recruiting, coaching, commitment to the team and the school has only gotten better. Oh come on, Mark. After four straight 9+ win seasons, they had four straight 6 LOSS seasons and fired the head coach. That's the textbook definition of a "backslide".
They weren't good years, that's for sure.
And I was so happy when Bennett was fired. Many people didn't like it, and some became bitches like Tyler Thigpen.

Texas State & The Other GSU spend around $30m/yr. Appalachian spends 15- to 20% less. The Convicts from the Real GSU likely spend half of what the Panthers spend.
Other SB schools (nearly half the conference) only spend $10- to $15m/yr, total for the athletic programs. Some schools field 20 M/W sports ... some, 14 M/W sports. I think one only fields 13 M/W sports.
As I wrote: It's a conference of schools that belong in FCS who want to pretend to be FBS.
There's no pretend about it. I respect your thoughts, but it's FBS.

The Pioneer is more I-AA than the SunBelt is I-A. Think about it.
I know the Sun Belt isn't strong like the ACC or SEC but still. It is a move up.
Debatable. You will get AppSt and GSU games, but gaining Idaho, Troy, Louisiana Lafayette... are people in Conway going to be excited about that? And never having a chance for a national championship... hell not really a chance to even be ranked. meh.

The NC is the sour point with me. I wanted to stay in the FCS. But it's done.
And people are excited for Troy and Texas. Idaho...not so much.

One thing you can count on, Hen, is that Appy and Georgia Southern will bring many more fans to Conway than any team in the Big South did. I expect Troy and USA will bring a good number of fans as well.
Once the dust settles, the eastern division of the Sun Belt will be a nice geographical fit. GS, CCU, App, GAg State, Troy, and South Alabama.

All teams that are recently FCS (although GAG State and USA didn't win anything in their short stays)

Basically a new Southern Conference, but not playing for a national championship.

GST started up planning on I-AA, which they were classified for 3 seasons, and had a season in the CAA. (ODU was in a similar vein and was classified I-AA for 5 seasons, with 2 in the CAA).
USA (same as UTSA & UNCC) started with the intentions of going straight to I-A and was only classified as I-AA for 1-2 seasons. Complete drive by. http://cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/active ... /index.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The draw of Horry County ... are all the things other than football.
Folks will travel to see their football ... hit the links, chow down on some good eats, jump in the ocean, get drunk and full of lust.

Early estimates are 21-25K.
Might need to go bigger to be able to host a P5 every other year. That is one of the biggest reasons for moving up after all. Playing all your P5 games on the road can stay in I-AA to do that. I know ODU is at about 20k and will host a couple P5 before they are expanded to 35k. But they are in a hotbed recruiting market...

What? You're talking shit about the Coastal fans but you're a UD fan. It's comical.
Not really Sticky. 9 of 10 Delaware, JMU, Lehigh, Butler, Montana State, Northern Colorado... fans couldn't tell you where Troy is. Might want to read that one again for context.
