I was going to join you in loling about that ridiculous Oregon statement but that post has too much heartfelt sorrow regarding the things that matter. Condolences man.SACCAT wrote:OK, I feel better now that I am home. The last week was spent at my grandmothers funeral listening to my cousins (both UM grads) talk about how "Oregon would have a tough time playing in Missoula because of the noise, and the rabid fans." Then the day of the funeral, found out my father in law has terminal cancer, and the doctor is married to a griz fan...So HE has to go into his thoughts about how awesome the griz would be and how the Cats have no chance this year...Hey Doc, how bout we focus on the impending death in the room....I will now continue all with my normal self-deprecating humor.

No problem...I went back and saw that your original post was in response to someone ELSE predicting a 5-7 season.biobengal wrote:HA!! I'm hopeful but not crazy.AZGrizFan wrote:
I've got a bet with SACCAT that the 'scats don't go 10-2. I'll offer you the same bet that the Bungles don't go 5-7. Any amount you want.

Yeah.... they crazy. 5-7 is best case, dancin' in the streets, Kramer extension, fill the dome kind of crazy. Give me two conference wins, maybe even one on the road and I'm HAPPY.AZGrizFan wrote:No problem...I went back and saw that your original post was in response to someone ELSE predicting a 5-7 season.biobengal wrote:

Re: Big Sky Predictions/Analysis
I think MSU is going to struggle some this year. Especially in the early part of the season where we face EWU, Central Arkansas and Arkansas State. The Cats are pretty young in two key area’s on offense, QB and WR. Granted Tanner Roderick has moved to WR, but we don’t really know what kind of year he is capable. Brian Flotkoetter while pretty good, is no world beater. At QB it will come down to either Dakota Prukop or Jake Bleskin. My money is on Prukop because he is the better athlete and I think we will need that until the WR’s are up to speed. We might see a true freshman playing at WR this year in Mitchell Herbert out of Oregon and I believe the same high school as griz QB Jordan Johnson. The O-Line should be pretty good and our running game is pretty stacked with speed and power.
On Defense, we have already been bitten by the injury bug. We are pretty thin at DE having already lost for the season Robert Wilcox a transfer out of Grambling who blew out his knee in the spring. Plus we just got word that projected starter Zach Hutchins had off season back surgery, so who knows when he will be back. A top backup Linebacker, Blake Braun is doubtful with a bad shoulder and may take a redshirt year since played as a true freshman last year. We will be pretty good in the secondary and at Linebacker. I like our DT rotation of Taylor Dees, Taylor Sheridan, Conner Thomas and Nate Bignell. We just can’t afford too many injuries!
At best, I think we can finish 8-4 provided we go at least 2-2 in OOC. Depending on how healthy we are, by the end of the season (which usually isn’t very good and neither is it for everyone else) I think we drop our game with the griz this year and probably one other conference team. The Cats will win one we are not supposed to win and drop one that we are supposed to win. As long as I see improvement as the season goes along, I’ll be happy, because next year I think we can be a serious challenger again. Prukop will have a season under his belt as a starter, the WR’s will have more game time, the O-line will be loaded with seniors and we only loose one RB.
No matter what, it will be a fun season and can’t wait for it to get started and start tailgating.
