The real "mistake" was that they moved the chains before they could replay if the ball was spotted correctly. That fact made any speculation on whether or not the ball was spotted correctly in the first place pure conjecture, and there is zero evidence to prove one way or another based on that fact.

You can't say the ball was spotted incorrectly, because you don't know that. Yes, there was an error made, that's not EWU's fault.

To say that was the difference in the game is comical given the fact that UD had 20 straight points scored on them with an opportunity to stop us from getting into the end zone each and every time, which they failed to do. Let's not forget that UD also had plenty of time at the end of the game to drive down the field and score again, which they also failed to do.

It's all in the past now, but you don't try to sit on a lead against a big play team like that. If I were a UD fan, I'd have blamed the coaches for not calling the correct plays on defense to stop EWU from scoring so much.

They had a horrible fourth quarter, there's no disputing that. But on that 4th down they stopped EWU and the refs made two major mistakes to give EWU a first down, there's no disputing that. The only thing in dispute is whether the outcome would have been different.

Ranger, the refs did spot the ball incorrectly... they moved it back after video review. They screwed up the chains when they remeasured. I posted conclusive photo evidence of that back then. Nobody said it was EWU's fault and the Hen fans have been remarkably generous in admitting that single play didn't cost the Hens the NC, but we will never know what would have happened had they gotten it right. How would you feel if your team clearly stopped the other team on 4th down at a very critical point and the refs game them the first anyway?
