Huh? Taiwan Jones played great in the first 1.5 playoff games in 2010, then suffered a season-ending injury against NDSU after he went for about 200 in the first half. Is clenz saying David Johnson is gonna get hurt? In what way does any of that make sense?

I'll rephrase it here...because I wasn't saying he is Tawainn Jones - I said DJ actually is what EWU fans thought Jones was.

I agree, it sounds really, really, easy to stop the uni offense. The issue is DJ truly is such an athletic freak its not that easy. You don't think every team we've played this year (including 2 top 5 seeded MVFC teams, whose only losses were to this extremely one dimensional offense) knew that "all we have to do is stop DJ". NDSU likely has the Buchannon winner, and one of the top defense in the nation and DJ ran for 139 yards on 28 carries and 36 yards receiving and a 41 yard kick off return. How bad was the UNI passing game against NDSU? Well, Brion Carnes was 7/19 for 93 yards - yep, DJ averaged the same YPC as Brion did YPA through the air (4.9)

What about Illinois State? DJ went for 129 on 29 with 5 yards receiving and 121 kick off return yards with a TD. How was the UNI passing game that day? Brion was a killer 10/30 for 117 yards and 2 picks.

Slow him down a little running the ball and he'll beat you catching some passes out of the back field. 33 catches for 506 yards this year...all on swing routes that he just makes people look silly trying to tackle him He has 136 career catches for 1,704 yards and 14 TDs...not bad for RB.

Now, Carnes is much better at passing now (almost at a "serviceable" level...almost) than he was over that 2 week stretch.

I get it "stop DJ and you stop UNI". I don't disagree at all. If anyone stops DJ they probably win by the largest margin of anyone that's beaten UNI this year...which would mean the first loss by more than 1 score this year.

Oh...and a fun stat I came across tonight doing research - In 9 MVFC/Big Sky games the MVFC ran for 2,267 yards on 408 carries (5.6 YPC).

Oh, BTW, the game this thread is about was a very entertaining football game. All the snow and winter and such and still all the points. That was really fascinating.

And though I give all props to the Northern Iowa back that South Dakota State back is something else. Say whatever you want but even that Northern Iowa back doesn't get as many big "home run" plays as that South Dakota State back gets. At least that's my impression without looking it up. That guy just has a knack for doing that.

And I'm guessing he must be pretty fast too.

I watched a lot of the SFA at Northern Iowa game and i saw a lot of that UNI back making moves that are just sick. But somehow you see that South Dakota State back just running and not looking like he's juking around and all of a sudden he's in a footrace and he's winning it every time.
