Big Sky Power Rankings 9-16

Well some things are beginning to clear and some are still murky. One more week of non-conference games (several involving conference members playing each other in non-conference) and then the conference season can begin. Here are this week's Bis Sky power rankings for this week (last week in parenthesis). Should make for some good discussion.

1. Eastern Washington (1)---The Eagles did not miss a beat last week, getting through their bye week unscathed. This week is the real test as they go on the road at Montana State.

2. Montana (2)---The Grizzlies got by Missouri Valley's South Dakota team but needed some late magic to hold off the pesky Coyotes. Things get tougher as they go on the road to play national champs North Dakota State.

3. Montana State (3)---The Bobcats took care of Central Arkansas of the Southland last week at home. Now the real test as they have Eastern Washington coming to visit.

4. Sacramento State (4)---The Hornets were able to shake off Weber State last week at home. They may get a rest this weekend as Menlo College comes to town.

5. Northern Arizona (6)---The Lumberjacks took care of business last weekend as they dispatched DII New Mexico Highlands. This weekend finds them on the road at South Dakota.

6. Southern Utah (5)---The Thunderbirds ran into a buzzsaw last weekend, losing at home to Missouri Valley's own South Dakota State team. This weekend they make a return to the FBS with a game at Fresno State.

7. Weber State (8)---The Wildcats stayed close to Sacramento State on the road last weekend. This weekend they head in the other direction, going to play Stephen F Austin from the Southland.

8. UC-Davis (7)---It is a good thing that the Aggies are in the FCS as they kept things close last week at FBS Colorado State before falling. They will take this weekend off.

9. Cal Poly (9)---The Mustangs had a week off last week. They now get to prepare for Portland State this weekend at home.

10. Portland State (10)---The Vikings took one on the chin last weekend in their return to Pac-12 action as they fell to Washington State. They get to play at their level this weekend on the road at Cal Poly.

11. Idaho State (11)---The Bengals had the game in hand last week against DII Chadron State and still almost lost it in the end. They will take this week as a bye week.

12. Northern Colorado (12)---The Bears are undefeated so far in this young season, finally beating FCS newcomer Houston Baptist last weekend. Things get tougher as they head out to Northern Iowa.

13. North Dakota (13)---North Dakota found life difficult last weekend at Missouri State. Will things be easier this weekend as they bring in Stony Brook from the CAA?

And the only reason SoDak even had a chance was because we have the worst group of kickers in FCS.

The Griz don't have the worst kickers in FCS. The standards for that are waaaayyy lower than you think they are.

UM's kickers are currently 2/5 on FGs & are 10/11 on PATS.

Last year, Portland State's kickers were 3/16 on FGs while Weber's were 15/20 on PATs.
Last year, Bethune-Cookman (a playoff team) missed 9 PATs.

My obvious hyperbole aside, if the NDSU game comes down to kicking, I think it's safe to say we're in trouble.
