Best Performance: (#2) Eastern Washington 52, (FBS) Washington 59 - Vernon Adams throws for a crazy 475 yards and 7 touchdowns against a Pac-12 school, but his efforts were undermined by 2 lost fumbles by his teammates and a defense that just couldn't get the Huskies off the field.
Worst Performance: Cal Poly 18, (#12) South Dakota St. 44 - The snakebit 'Stangs allow 502 yards on just 59 plays to a team that was missing their starting quarterback.
Most Surprising Result: Northern Colorado 12, (FBS) UNLV 13 - 4 Rebel interceptions opened an unlikely door for the Bears, but a missed chip shot by Seth Czapenski with 5:45 to play slammed it right back in their faces.

Best Performance: (#7)McNeese St. 24, (FBS) Nebraska 31 - Holding a team like Nebraska to 31 points is quite an achievement by the Cowboy defense, especially when compared to the 68 ppg allowed by fellow Southland teams in FBS massacres.
Worst Performance: Houston Baptist 17, (DII) McMurry 26 - We may as well give the Huskies the last-place trophy now, because losing to a bad DII that's dropping back down to DIII next year is pathetic even for a startup program.
Most Surprising Result: (#7)McNeese St. 24, (FBS) Nebraska 31 - The last time Nebraska lost to a current FCS team was 1925 (Drake).
Best Performance: Southern Illinois 38, (#16) Eastern Illinois 21 - Salukis give up just 98 yards and no points in the second half after allowing 353 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first.
Worst Performance: South Dakota 41, (NAIA) William Penn 16 - The Coyotes fail to put a weak opponent away until the final 3 minutes, largely due to the 335 rushing yards the Statesmen racked up.
Most Surprising Result: Indiana St. 49, Tennessee Tech 14 - Could the Sycamores be a dark horse? Probably not, but they certainly don't look like the doormat we saw at the end of last year.

Best Performance: Eastern Kentucky 17, (FBS) Miami (OH) 10 - It's difficult to lose to anyone when you force 6 turnovers.
Worst Performance: Tennessee Tech 14, Indiana St. 49 - This QW thing looks like an unmitigated disaster so far.
Most Surprising Result: (#14) Tennessee St. 21, Alabama St. 27 - Michael German didn't throw a single interception in the roughly half season of ball he played in 2013. He's already thrown 5 picks this year.
Best Performance: Dayton 23, Georgetown 14 - Connor Kacsor runs for a school-record 301 yards, 22 more than the entire Hoya offense managed.
Worst Performance: Stetson 12, (DII) Florida Tech 54 - Not a good sign for the Hatters as they lose by 42 points to a team they lost to by just 7 last year.
Most Surprising Result: Morehead St. 49, (NAIA) Pikeville (KY) 36 - The Eagles nearly blew a 32-point lead, but Austin Gahafer's 5 TD passes just barely held up.

Most Surprising Result: (#11) Fordham 6, (#10) Villanova 50 - I'm pretty sure most FCS fans expected Nova to win, but nothing like this kind of slaughter.

How can Savannah St gain 599 total yds but only produce a measley 9 points!!!!!! SMDH !!!!!!!!! The coach for North Carolina A&T runs a conservative offense they have a WR named Kevin Hayes 6-5 200 if he were playing elsewhere he with his size would be a featured player. He was at Grambling he ran a run oriented offense as well.My mistake I thought Morgan St defeated Holy Cross. The Bears might shock a few teams within the MEAC this season.

Savannah gave up 599 rushing yards (& 695 total yards), they didn't gain anywhere near that much.
Good stuff. But don't be surprised by Newberry playing CSU very tough. There is a unique history between them. And, many of those victories (Most I think) were before 2004 when CSU went fully funded. Before, CSU only had 34 scholarships, same as D2 Newberry, so the programs were very similar.
Newberry's HC is a beloved ex-D coordinator at Charleston Southern, and his team was very emotionally invested in this game, and they were a D2 playoff contender last year. I know, an FCS team should still beat them by more. But Newberry is no scrub D2 team, they'd contend with half of FCS teams.

You'll have to excuse him, my 17 month old daughter has a functioning IQ than him

I know Newberry is a good DII, but CSU has shown a pattern of struggling with non-DIs that is surprising given CSU's overall ability. They struggled with both Shorter & North Greenville last year.
Best Performance: Alabama St. 27, (#14) Tennessee St. 21 - Hornets run for 255 yards on one of last year's stingiest defenses.
Worst Performance: Mississippi Valley St. 0, Illinois St. 62 - The Delta Devils use four different quarterbacks and still throw for just 36 yards.
Most Surprising Result: Mississippi Valley St. 0, Illinois St. 62 - We knew MVSU's offense was awful, but it's a bit surprising to see their defense allow 656 yards to an unranked opponent.

Valley's defense isn't that good either, especially against OOC opponents. They struggled against University of Faith (whoever that is)
