Ok, this Grambling thing has me interested. Its well known that all college football players think they are better than they actually are. ALL 1-A guys think they are gonna get an NFL paycheck. ALL 1-AA guys think they should be in 1-A, and that somehow they'll catch an NFL scout's eye. So, I cant blame the Grambling players for being a bit egotistic.
But dammit, at some point, grow up. Play ball.
The jerseys and gym not being sanitary? Sure, that's a legit gripe. But whining about long bus rides? And facilities not being fancy enough?
But let me offer something. I played at Charleston Southern from 1999-2002. We took 2 bus trips, one to Austin Peay (TN) and one to West Liberty State (WV), both were brutal. Our weightroom was modest at best.
We would have rather been treated like players at Clemson. But we weren't. Because Clemson didn't want us as players.
If Grambling players want to be treated like LSU or Ole Miss players, then go walk on at LSU or Ole Miss.
College football is a HUGE PRIVILEDGE, not a right.
You get 4-5 years, win or lose, then its over. Too short to bitch about it.
Your opinion on the Grambline U train wreck!!!

The players have the pleasure of dealing with staph infection. The athletic complex at your school was probably in better condition than Grambling's !!!!!bucs90 wrote:Ok, this Grambling thing has me interested. If Grambling, or anyone else, wants to run their programs like a D2 or D3 program, then they need to take they asses down to that level. I fully support the players on this. No sense to have them take a 15 hour bus ride the DAY BEFORE a game, THEN 15 hours back and expected to succeed in class, when their opponent who is equal distance away from the location flew there and back. ESPECIALLY when the payout from this classic was 50-50. What happened to the money? Grambling football is bankrolling not only the athletic department, but arguably the school as well.
If Grambling doesn't have the money to operate properly at a D1 level, then they should drop the facade and move down. And that goes for any other D1 school. Athletics should be run as a business. And you take care of the players in your program. Its disgusting how they have to worry about their health and personal safety from working out in their OWN facilities.
Having to drink water from a hose when you can easily take $100 and invest in about a dozen water coolers and a cheap ass folding table is mindboggling to me.
When I have to put on moldy shoulder pads and jerseys because the school can't "afford" to invest in a clothes washer, that's a problem.
Remember the whole "APU" thing from the OSU-Northwestern game a couple weeks ago. This will go a long way towards advancing that cause. Forget all the talk about paying players, there needs to be set health and safety standards that these D1 schools have to meet to be allowed to operate at this level. If you can't do so, then GTFO.

This is why Doug left in the first place he wanted major upgrades to the football program but the folks in admin said no.DSUrocks07 wrote:If Grambling, or anyone else, wants to run their programs like a D2 or D3 program, then they need to take they asses down to that level.
