NConf Record: 2-4 Overall: 18-20
vs. FCS: 1-3 Overall: 5-5
Best Performance: Portland St. 41, UC Davis 10 - DJ Adams runs for 208 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 14 carries for a Viking attack that averaged 11.2 ypc.
Worst Performance: UC Davis 10, Portland St. 41 - The Aggies did win the turnover battle 3-1, but that wasn't nearly enough to make up for a 343-yard deficit in total offense.
Most Surprising Result: (#3) Montana St. 38, Stephen F. Austin 52 - The absence of DeNarius McGhee was obviously a factor—Jake Bleskin threw 4 picks—but that doesn't explain the 567 yards allowed by the Bobcat defense.

NConf Record: 7-1 Overall: 19-13
vs. FCS: 5-0 Overall: 11-3
Best Performance: Stephen F. Austin 52, (#3) Montana St. 38 - MSU's ranking was inflated given the McGhee injury, but this is still an impressive turnaround for a Lumberjack team that was shredded by Weber State just 3 weeks ago.
Worst Performance: Nicholls St. 42, (NAIA) Langston 22 - Struggling with the nondescript-NAIA Lions (NSU trailed by 9 in the second quarter) doesn't inspire confidence that the Colonels are building off their shocking FBS win. Jim Mora should be proud, though, as Hebert & Hilliard combined for 4 touchdowns.
Most Surprising Result: Stephen F. Austin 52, (#3) Montana St. 38 - SFA has a recent history of softness & inconsistency, so it'll be interesting to see how they play against SELU in two weeks.

NConf Record: 5-4 Overall: 19-16
vs. FCS: 5-2 Overall: 13-6
Best Performance: Youngstown St. 59, Duquesne 17 - The Penguins do allow 371 passing yards to the Dukes, but a dominating run defense & a 4-0 turnover advantage still result in a blowout win.
Worst Performance: Western Illinois 7, (FBS) UNLV 38 - UNLV is not an FBS team that should crush a decent FCS squad, but I do wonder about the fact the Runnin' Rebels didn't commit a single penalty.
Most Surprising Result: Missouri St. 13, (#13) Central Arkansas 17 - I'm not sure what's more surprising: that the Bears held UCA to 17 points, or that there were no points scored in the second half of this game at all.
Best Performance: (#8) Eastern Illinois 39, (FBS) Northern Illinois 43 - The defending MAC champs couldn't stop Jimmy Garoppolo, either, as he threw for 450 yards and 6 touchdowns. The Panther D couldn't—in turn—stop the Husky run game, though, as they were outrushed 367-127.
Worst Performance: Southeast Missouri St. 19, Southern Illinois 36 - The Redhawks still control the overall series, but they've now lost 7 of the last 8 to the Salukis.
Most Surprising Result: Jacksonville St. 32, (FBS) Georgia St. 26 (OT) - Not impressive given it was the Panthers, but at least the Gamecocks were able to officially give FCS a single-season record 14th. win over an FBS opponent.

Best Performance: Drake 31, (DII) Indianapolis 14 - Yes, this was seriously the best performance in the Pioneer League this week (I actually picked Drake to lose).
Worst Performance: Stetson 34, (DIII) Birmingham Southern 49 - The Hatters finally see where they're at against an opponent that had played a game prior to 2013.
Most Surprising Result: Drake 31, (DII) Indianapolis 14 - So, which lucky playoff team will win the PFL-auto-bid matchup lottery?
Tomorrow: the rest of the playoff conferences.

Best Performance: (#21) Fordham 52, Columbia 7 - Michael Nebrich completes 84% of his passes and puts up 432 yards of total offense in another impressive performance for the Rams.
Worst Performance: Bucknell 13, Cornell 45 - The Bison, who've had gaudy turnover-margin stats in recent years, lose five fumbles in Ithaca.
Most Surprising Result: Holy Cross 14, Monmouth 21 - The Crusaders run for just 55 yards against a weak Monmouth team just a week after running for over 400 yards on CCSU.
Most Surprising Result: Central Connecticut St. 20, Albany 17 - CCSU has now won 3 out of 5 over Albany for the first time in series history

Best Performance: (#20) Villanova 35, (#16) Stony Brook 6 - It may have been injury assisted, but the Wildcats still get brutal revenge for last year's playoff loss.
Worst Performance: Albany 17, Central Connecticut St. 20 - A team joining a better conference doesn't magically make that team better.
Most Surprising Result: Maine 21, (FBS) Northwestern 35 - The Black Bears were never in striking distance, but to avoid a blowout against Northwestern is a good result for any FCS team.
Best Performance: Gardner-Webb 3, (#10) Wofford 0 - The stifling Bulldog run defense gets it done again, holding the option-based Terriers to 149 total yards.
Worst Performance: Liberty 21, (#23) Richmond 30 - Pretty good day for the Big South when this is the worst result.
Most Surprising Result: Gardner-Webb 3, (#10) Wofford 0 - The Bulldogs haven't scored a touchdown since August, yet are 3-0 against FCS and (deservedly) in the top-25.

Worst Performance: Western Carolina 30, (DII) Mars Hill 23 - Three long, fourth-quarter TD passes from Troy Mitchell help avoid a bad, bad loss.
Most Surprising Result: The Citadel 58, (FBS) Old Dominion 59 - "The Citadel - playing just well enough to lose, each & every week."
* - I know App State & Georgia Southern are still technically in the SoCon this year, but I'm counting them as FBS and as a non-conference opponent for SoCon teams (same idea as Georgia State last season & UMass the year before).

Couldn't have said it better myself. We've gone backwards from last year. We're a CAA team in name only this year. Gonna be a long season.

Best Performance: Yale 39, Colgate 22 - In his first game action of the season, Tyler Varga carries the ball 39 times for 236 yards to single-handedly outrush the normally unstoppable Raider ground attack.
Worst Performance: Columbia 7, (#21) Fordham 52 - The Lions suffer their worst-ever loss to their intracity rivals.
Most Surprising Result: Yale 39, Colgate 22 - The Bulldogs did allow a bit of yards to Gavin McCarney in his return from injury, but shut down everyone else.
Best Performance: Alcorn St. 21, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 16 - Braves lose yardage & turnovers, but still stun ASU thanks to a 13-5 penalty advantage.
Worst Performance: Alabama A&M 26, Prairie View A&M 28 - Special teams cost the Bulldogs as they miss 2 PATs and average a pathetic 33.4 yards-per-kickoff (27.8 net).
Most Surprising Result: Alcorn St. 21, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 16 - Odd stat: there were 9 fumbles in this game, but only 1 was lost.

* - Old Dominion is a first-year transitional, so I'm counting them as FBS and not counting them as an FCS Independent.
