Wagner College announced Wednesday it would rename its football field in honor of longtime coach and athletic director Walt Hameline.

The field will be officially renamed Hameline Field at the football team’s Sept. 15 home opener against Monmouth.

“A long deserved honor,” school president Richard Guarasci said of the decision to recognize the 60-year-old Hameline, who piloted the Seahawks to the 1987 Division III national championship and is the winningest coach in school history with a record of 204-123-2.

Hameline is one of only 36 coaches in history to have won 200 games at one school, and ranks as tie for eighth in victories among active Football Championship Series coaches.
...
The Seahawk head man, who is tied at 60th on the NCAA all-time win list for coaches at any level of the collegiate game, insists he has no intention of leaving either of his two jobs as athletic director or head coach any time soon.

Congrats!
