FCS Spring Stats 2012

Post by Keeper »

FOR GEEKS ONLY: The 2012 stats page is now online which displays numbers you may need,
such as starters lost, rushing passing and receiving yards lost, and tackling performance lost from 2011 stats.

You will not find this accounting anywhere else on the web.

By the way, some teams have not yet posted a 2012 roster, so there may be some errors.
I would appreciate any important updates you may have to offer.

I'm a little confused.

NDSU loses 4.07 defensive starters, and 24% DL, 48% LB, and 24% DB, yet loses 0% of top 22 tacklers? Same anomaly with Youngstown and SDSU.
Go Tribe!!!

Lots of problems with this.

It makes no assumption on what you gained in recruiting - it's strictly a measure of how experienced your team is vs. last year. And last year's team may not have been very good. Look at Nova - they're #2 in this list but were barely a blip on the CAA radar last year.

I'm not sure what this really indicates. ASU at #81, yet the preseason polls would have them somewhere in the top 10-15? :?

CORRECTED: http://home.comcast.net/~keepersfootball/fcsspring2.htm

Thanx Tribe (YSU, NDSU, SDSU fixed) dang spreadsheet unglitched. :ugeek:

Perhaps it would help to be a geek to know that the survey does not rank teams according to current power
or strength. The survey only measures the team's roster losses by showing corresponding stats lost from 2011 stats.
The FCS ranking is about which teams have the fewest losses (or most returning if you prefer). As this is about
2011 stats only, obviously it does not include recruiting info, special teams, coaching, facilities, ticket prices,
and whatever else, okay? Most fans are only interested in the number of offensive & defensive starters lost for a
decent indicator.

Any other glaring discrepancies? Please let me know.
