If there's one certainty in life, it's that JMU will never be the smartest team on the field. Fortunately for them, being smart and winning football games are not necessarily intertwined.lakesbison wrote:i cannot wait to play JMU if they are that stupid on the bid process, they gotta be that stupid on the field.

He's right - Kentucky shows its games on Fox Sports South - I think it's part of the SEC TV contract. ESPN3 picks up the online feed, but I don't think they have any production there - certainly not a full camera crew like he's implying.93henfan wrote:If that's the case, then lmfao.Skjellyfetti wrote:

Silly article - JMU just can't or is incapable of bidding properly. Happens all the time to them.

If this was seriously THAT easy, wouldn't the ESPN crew in Bozeman have hopped in thier rental cars and driven to Missoula for the selection show on Sunday morning instead of giving all the coverage/love/press to a team that just got ROLLED?With a noon start, ESPN's camera crews will have a very easy day. They can fly into Lexington Friday, drive a half an hour to Richmond to cover the game, and then be back in time at 7 p.m. for Portland to take on the No. 2 ranked Kentucky Wildcats in basketball.
Does this guy really think they can just pack up their gear and set up in a half hour to cover the basketball game?

You could barely pull this off for radio - and you would have to have your logistics done the night before at both locations.

Eastern Kentucky vs. James Madison....are we sure this is a playoff game. For some reason, I thought Delaware was playing Illinois State.

Maybe the AD wasn't confident you would make the playoff's at the time. Regardless, he looks like an a-hole now.

Re: JMU fanbase furious
It's clear that bid was low and was a mistake. A bigger concern of mine, however, is we would have missed a home game against in-state Liberty with a bid like that. That would have been a far more embarrassing blunder...maybe he knew that wasn't possible because they avoid re-matches, I don't know.
However, there are two sides to this...there is JMU that should have bid more, but no one's talking about EKU that overbid.
They bid "considerably" more than $46,768. Not sure how the Montana AD defines "considerably", but let's say it's $60,000.
With an average attendance of 7,367, that would be a bid of $8.25 per (average) attendee.
We all know these games have lower than average attendance across the board, so let's assume it's 5,000 (which may be generous, seeing as how they got 3,300 last week)
A $60,000 bid for an attendance of 5,000 comes to $12 a person they have to pay to the NCAA.
At JMU, $12 a person bid for even 18,000 would be a $216,000 bid.
