FCS Coaches poll week 9

NDSU has already beaten Montana State in their stadium and Georgia Southern backed out of a NDSU game... after we beat UNI this weekend NDSU should be #1 across the board.

I forgot that one game last year had such a large bearing on this year's rankings. Next you will tell me how much of a powerhouse Missouri State is because of their 3-0 win over NDSU last year... oh wait, NDSU won 9-3 this year, shellacking the 1-7 Bears proving that last year has no bearing on this year.

I'm still waiting for you to tell me when that game was played this year. I am sure Las Vegas would love you to go there because you would fall victim to the gambler's fallacy very easily. Past results are not indicative of future events, especially when they are unrelated. Translation: last year's game has zero effect on this year's standings or potential outcomes.

If I was a fan of NDSU, I'd be far more concerned about this weekend's upcoming game against UNI than with rankings which are completely out of your control. Win and the rankings take care of themselves.

For the Division I football poll-aholic, it doesn’t get much better than this.

The Championship Subdivision has four of its top five teams facing each other on Saturday with No. 1 Georgia Southern vs. No. 5 Appalachian State. Closer to home, it’s No. 2 Northern Iowa at No. 3 North Dakota State.

In the big boy Bowl Subdivision, it’s No. 1 LSU vs. No. 2 Alabama.

You have those kind of numbers in a low-ball poker hand and you’re hiking the pot at every opportunity.

Certainly, ranking teams in the FCS is a tougher task, mostly because of a lack of national exposure. But people care. Ask anybody in Statesboro, Ga., if they care. Ask folks in Cedar Falls, Iowa, or Fargo. There are enough fans out there to make it matter.

It is why the coaches who vote in the FCS top 25 poll probably should do a better job of research. In the FCS, fans are not as plentiful as FBS, so you need to treat them like a customer: You gain them one at a time.

Treating the poll like a two-minute afterthought is not the way to go about it...for more click on the link....

We have done nothing? We were ranked in football (NDSU did that during transition), we went to the CIT tournament in basketball, we got ourselves into a major conference in all sports..NDSU..ooops sorry about that Summit thing.
