They had a good year this year but I wonder if they could be floating this rumor again to get teh locals butts in the seats again? I just have a hard time seeing ISU dropping it becasue it is still somewhat popular to go to games in Pocatello for the locals but I don't even know what their attendance figures are in the last 5 years so I might be talking out of my ass...hole.
This is true, and the fans did come out and save the program, but I dont think Weber's football programwill be dropped.
First of all the Football team isnt losing money, our average fan base last year was 7,000 which for Weber is actually good,(sad to say).
2. Weber had just upgraded their locker rooms and weight rooms under the Football stadium, they built a brand new Scoreboard with a screen 3 years ago, they also tore up thier old practice fields and put in nice new turf fields and just built an indor practice facility where if the weather is bad they can practice indoors.
3. The school is allowing the football team to spend more money on recruiting, not to mention the school is doing something it has never done before, and that is bus students to away games.
Weber is not hurting for money, they might play 2 FBS teams every year, but they are no Oklahoma, Weber schedules FBS teams that they hope they can upset, like this year when we play Wyoming and Colorado State, both close and winnable, and next year when we play wyoming again and Utah State, both winnable.
No such comments about hurting for money have come out of Weber State. It wont be Weber State.
Weber has had that many in basketball this season. Imagine if other Big Sky schools had their football attendance average at a basketball game...LOL!
I'm thinking WSU will be in the top half of the conference for attendance next year in football. WSU leads in basketball most years...

The Griz would need a way bigger venue.

Weber st is the same as portland st & Nau in football in the big sky. average. heres the list.
Montana<---leader
EWU & MSU<---the teams who give Montana that one loss per year & maybe get a "CO-BIGSKY CHAMP".
wsu,psu,nau<---average teams, once every 5 year 1 has a good year & surprises EVERYONE.
ssu,ncu,isu<---will lose at least 5 conference games a year.

Just what we need, another UNC - further watering down the BSC.

The data backs up your post; only three teams are above .500 - WL for the last 5 years:
UM 57-12
MSU 34-24
EWU 34-26
PSU 27-28
NAU 25-30
WSU 26-32
Sac 18-38
ISU 14-42
UNC 9-47

Northern Col. - 0
Um well you cant really laugh at Northern Colorado, they barely just joined the Big Sky 2 years ago and barely joined Div. 1 6 years ago, give them time they are coming around. Portland State and Sac State however, no real excuse, seriously put SUU in there im pretty sure they can compete with NAU, MSU, WSU, EWU, Montana (referring to 07 not this year) and beat Sac State, Portland State and Northern Colorado.
Oh, yeah. Plenty of promise exhibited by UNC. One win in each of the last three years. They have a total of two conf. wins in their three years in the BSC. CWU or Chadron would have been better.
SUU would compete only with UNC, ISU and SacSt. We already have three; don't need a fourth.
