Scott reception converts the fourth down and Latney punches it in from 5 out to tie the game 7-7 with 12:29 left in the half.

Halftime JMU leads 14-7. Edwards has looked very good in his first start but he keeps trying to force it on pass plays to Barlowe who's always double or triple covered. He should learn how to read a progression as time goes on, but he seems much more calm and composed than Thorpe has previously.

didn't expect this, UR missing 3 D-linemen, JMU with those already discussed issues. I predicted this to be a 17-13 type game.
1-AA is tops!!

JMU offense:
Rushing: 297 yds (54 carries)
Passing 34 yds (5 of 12, ) 0 TDs, 0 INTs

Dae'quan Scott 8 carries, 23 yards, separated shoulder 2nd qtr, might be out for season. :ohno:
rFr Juan Latney: 19 carries, 98 yards, 1 TD
rSo Jordan Anderson: 13 carries, 162 yards, 2 TDs.

Anderson started the season as the #2 to Scott, looked like JMU's best rusher vs UNC. Fumbled at the 1 yard line vs CCSU (replays showed his knee was down), no carries the next 2 games. Part of that was due the fumble, part due to Latney playing so well vs Liberty and W&M.

JMU OL just dominated a UR defense that was overplaying the run as it was. In all fairness to UR, their DL was missing I think 3 starters. But JMU's OL hasn't been at 100% all season if you consider that returning starter from last season, rSo Scott Jones, had knee surgery in the Spring and is suppose to be back this month.

UR Offense:
Rushing -12 yds (25 carries, not a misprint)
Passing: 130 yds (Corp 16 of 32, 130 yds, 0 TDs, 1 INT)

Yep, UR had 118 yards of total offense. UR's only points came off of a blocked punt less than 3 min into game that gave UR 1st and goal at the JMU 3. As far as I'm concerned, the JMU special teams gave up that TD, not the defense.

JMU DL throughly dominated the UR OL. I know UR was missing at least 1 starting OL, but JMU was also missing one of their 3 stud DTs- Jr Sean Oneil, torn up knee vs CCSU, out for season, using redshirt. Completely shut down UR's run game, and got 7 sacks on Corp, who spent most of the game taking hits or running for his life. Wasn't Corps fault. Reminded me of the JMU @ UD game 2 years ago when you had another very good (for this level) pro style QB, Devlin, whom JMU sacked 8 times. Doesn't matter how good the QB is, if he's not mobile a la Mike Brown (and JMU even sacked him 3x) and his OL is getting whipped, he's not going to be very effective.

Finally got Nick Emmons back at DT, and he looked as advertised. 3rd year at JMU, only 3rd game he has started:
-05' Army prep,
-07' So Army started 4 games
-08' Jr Army left beginning of the season
-09' Sr JMU redshirt due to transfer issue
-last yr rSr JMU started 1st 2 games vs Morehead & VT, went down to season ending injury vs VT, got med redshirt
-this season week before UNC goes down with minor knee injury, missed 1st 4 games.
Emmons probably played at least 1/2 ther game and was very disruptive, in on 4 tackles and 1/2 a sack. Haven't watched tape of the game yet, but looked like he was having his way with the UR center #66 and/or the UR LG. If JMU can keep him and Lamar Middelton healthy, those 2, along Jordan Stanton, can be a dominant 3 man DT rotation, even without O'Neil.

This was the type of dominating JMU defense most JMU fans had expected this yr. Didn't really expect it vs UNC, and saw it for the 1st half of CCSU, Liberty, and W&M, but hadn't seen it for a whole game until yesterday.

Good news for JMU football: Sources say team doesn't think RB Dae'Quan Scott's shoulder injury is serious after all.

Thank goodness...... :D

Announced attendance was 25,742. Also, Emmit Smith was at the game (on the JMU sideline). If you do not know, his wife is a JMU Alum.

Really?! Okay, that makes sense. I saw a friend tweet Sunday morning: "Just met Emmit Smith at the SHoneys in Harrisonburg of all places" ... then I heard from others that he was at the game ... now it all makes sense.

Don't think he was on the sideline. Mark Selig tweeted that he was in the president's suite, and he was seen on smile-cam seated in the outdoor suite seats, protected from the rain.
