On December 12, 1775 the Continental Congress created a Battalion of minuteman from the three counties in Delaware. Kent county militia were fans and owners of Game Cocks; Fight'n Blue Hens as they were called. The Fight'n Blue Hens became known far and wide as the very best Fighting Game Cocks around. Thus, the Blue Hen was established.

Delaware is usually pretty good at defending the TO. Today is not one of those times.

Rough one to watch here in Nap Town. At least the tailgate was good.

Nice venue as always:

Sasek looks good. Keeler needs to let the kid play a little more. Take some pressure off Pierce.

If he lets him loose, Navy's gonna have a hard time stopping him.

Hens finally get going. 16-7. Rob Jones can catch after all. After the first quarter drops I wasn't sure.

It sounds from every report like there is 'no structural damage' to Sasek's knee, which is a big relief. As has been noted in the past, Sasek is a real gamer. He may have to sit out next week versus West Chester, which certainly isn't a bad thing. Donnelly could use the reps anyways. Maybe even give Burns a chance to see the field for a while.

With regards to the game, things could have been different if our receivers had executed. There were several dropped passes that stalled drives in the first half, which is disconcerting since dropped balls have plagued some of these guys (one in particular) in the past.

O-Line and running game looked like they'll pick up exactly where they left off.

The defense was challenged all day, and it's hard to say what can really be gleaned from this game because of the TO. The secondary was caught out of position in some plays, but I'm not sure what else could really be expected. It's a challenging offense, that played more mistake free than I've ever seen. I figured for sure they'd put the ball on the ground a few times, but to their credit they hung onto it. The QB is as fast as advertised, and his arm is as bad as advertised.

A solid whoopin, but I think some good things to build on.

Not that it made one bit of difference in the outcome, but you gotta love playing in a stadium where it's considered unpatriotic to call a penalty against the home team. Navy: 0 penalties for 0 yards on the day.

Wash our mouths out and go on with the rest of our season. At least I am pretty sure we'll run the ball against anybody else we play. The game shouldn't have been any worse than tied at halftime if our recievers had held onto anything at all. Just terrible.

Navy 52
Delaware 14

Delaware needs a new QB after this one.

Don't sell yourself short, you've looked like one for a while. ;)

Just kidding.

The end result doesn't really suprise me, I don't expect the Hens to be as good as last year and it's hard to predict what Navy will be like. I have never liked FCS/FBS games (or FCS/D-II games). I'd rather see the Hens play all FCS opponents, no Navy, no West Chester etc. In any case, I hope nobody is seriously hurt.

Navy QB had monster game on the ground. Hens will learn from this and move on.

I'm not surprised Navy scored 40.

I'm surprised UD didn't score a few more times. I thought Pierce and the UD 'O' looked pretty good over-all, though.

Well, we did beat Navy 59-52 a few seasons ago. Sometimes you don't have to stop the option. You just have to have Joe Flacco and the ball last.

To be honest I didn't see anything egregious on Navy's part that warranted an obvious flag - solid execution all game long...
