speculation this morning has been that Florida St. is also flirting with the SEC... if the SEC superconference really happens we will end up having conference Armageddon over the next year.

With the recent news and the idea things are changing I dont think the franchise of the Big 12 or the WAC will be allowed to die. They are FBS conferences. BCS affiliation might be at stake, but they can always find members that want to play football.

Being a football affiliate is not out of the question. I know thats contrary to what Hambone was saying about needing all sports and affiliations in smaller sports first, but the BSC has football affiliates, why not the Big 12 or WAC.

I think these conferences will be able to keep their FBS affiliations alive. They may not be what they once were, but they have a good business model and should be able to continue.

Remind me again of when I said NDSU would never be in the FBS. You need to come down to reality for a while and think about the kind of money it will take to move up. NDSU nearly had $5 million in equity funding cut and the center of excellence shut down by the state legislature last session. Where exactly do you think the funding for NDSU to move up come from? I'll take a guess at it not being from the state. Do you know of anyone who could fund the gap left over every year Mr. Bigshot? It's one thing to have a goal of reaching the FBS and another to infest every college football board and put on your act.

I am not the guy thumping my chest about who I know in the program. I buy my tickets, go to the games, wear my colors proudly and promote NDSU everywhere I can without the 10th grade BS. I have never claimed to have connections with anyone at NDSU nor would I feel the need to make such a claim in a conversation. Your peon status within the athletic department is evident with your sad need to keep mentioning your connections. Didn't you get booted from the tailgating area last year because you thought you were BIGTIME enough to get away with setting up a day early? I also remember a hissy fit by bigshot lakes after getting the boot because NOBODY would back you up. Please do all of us a favor and talk your smack in person and leave it off the boards.

Im sorry to hear you and Lakes are crossed but if we couldn't be friends I just dont think I could bear it. On the other hand, I do have a problem with your claim you are a "good" bison fan and Lakes isnt.

No I would say you are a bad bison fan. You put yourself above others, you fail to see the fun, the humor, the education and the parlay of the exchanges with these fans from other squads. You cant see beyond yourself and how great thou are't. For my money Im in the Rain Forest and with the Lakes of the world every time. I will stay away from the good fans at the FFD knitting, scolding and generally being the judge and jury with "the look" all of us that actually take the game with some passion have experienced while we cheer on The BISON to Victory.

If you two could just understand when to draw the line it would benefit us all. Lakes outlandish statements can be funny at times but it never stops. I agree that Lakes has his name pop up all over the region but the majority of the time it is because of some sophomoric behavior that reflects poorly on the program. The same goes for JBB and his prognostications (sp?). The stuff can be a good break from reality for a minute but it reaches a level that is counter productive. I have gone back the past six months on this board and read alot of JBB's stuff and it has been all fantasy and very little reality. At least contribute some useful information or a level headed discussion every once and awhile. Would you act like this at work everyday? I think not. Know when to say when.

I've just returned from central Minnesota Town Baseball Tournaments. What is being talked about is NDSU to the Big 12. Its such a surging rumor I think there might be some truth to it. Timing is another thing. Now, 10 yrs or never, but where there is smoke there is fire.

From what I heard there will not be more money spent on Bison football, the NDSU program, than the ranking allows. NDSU is pledged up for this level. Thats easy to understand. When the move to D1 was made the money was there, but not a surplus of money. What was needed was easy to come by. But its obvious there is more money in the Fargo Market and North Dakota.

If NDSU were to get a Big 12 invite in the future it is clear the money would be there. Its there now. There is just no reason to spend it. From the talk I heard the desire to spend it is becoming stronger. I wouldnt doubt one bit if NDSU is talking to the Big 12. We wont hear about it, but there is no reason to believe otherwise.

Why not create the real top tier division (the "FAS"), and have ndsu crowned champion every year because they are the only team. ndsu would have the B12, SEC, Pac12, etc crawling at there feet begging to join.

a program will grow to the potential of its market.

Clearly the Fargo and North Dakota markets have a lot of potential waiting for a chance to grow.
