Man you beat me to it Slo! And no kidding it is a tough slate but its also a step in the right direction for our program. At least i think we are getting a pretty good rivalry going with NAU since they actually want to play us and the addition of Dixie State as a home opener is great to. And the Dakotas i think will be tough especially SD with Shepard. However i will be optimistic and this is what i see with the upcoming season outcome:Wildcat Ryan wrote:Sept 2nd- Dixie State

-Dixie State: W (Sub-par d2 opponent)
-@ SDSU: L (Tough first away game for SUU, we may score more then 7)
-@ NAU: W (Lost on a last second interception last year, thinking SUU will pull it off this year and get more support to join Big Sky)
-@USU: L (Even though USU is not that good they still got a great new coach and a good QB in Borrel and Webers O-Coordinator)
-Texas State: W (After a dominating win in their house last year i think a win at home this year isnt to crazy)
-@ Cal Poly: L (Still going to be a dangerous team after personel losses, the triple option attack is to potent to stop)
-ND: W (A tough come from behind win last year i see SUU winning by a bit more this year @ home)
-UCD: L (After a tough first quarter SUU got beaten soundly last year, see a closer game but the same result)
-@SD: W (Shepard and co. ran all over SUU last year, i see SUU prepping for him better this year)
-EWU: L (I see this as a close game hopefully also making an even stronger case for an SUU Big Sky bid)
-@San Diego: W (The second trip to San Diego will be victorious for SUU, If the game is close maybe SD will finally wake up and realize that the Great West would be a better fit then the Pioneer)
Final Record: 6-5 (First winning season in a long time for SUU!)

I wish NAU/SUU played every year - natural rivalry. Could even have the "Grand Canyon Cup" to the winner.

score 34 - 20-Texas State: W (After a dominating win in their house last year i think a win at home this year isnt to crazy)
total yards TxSt 457, SUU 369, not exactly dominating except the final score.
we just played like shit, gave up easy scores and had too many penalty yards.
Fumbling away the opening kick-off on the 8 yd line didn't help either.
rushing 136/1065
receiving 22/210
kick off returns 42/1055
TDs 14
He didn't lose any more of those.....
(he'll be a Jr. in '09)
I'll give you even odds but I bet our guys will be up to even the w/l record

Oh dont worry cat mom thats why i said "i will be optimistic"CatMom wrote:Undoubtedly our worst game in 2008. The team came out cocky and with a 'we can't lose this game' attitude. Don't count your chickens SUUTBird. You forget we have most of that offense back and a better defense stepping in. (last year's road record 5 - 1)

I think it would be kind of funny if SUU had a rival with a Big Sky team, and it wasnt Weber State, But NAU and SUU are very close, its not a very long trip, so its easy for them to play each other. I would like to see Weber and SUU duke it out every year to, but I guess Weber is going for the 2 FBS teams every year now, I just heard Weber plays at Wyoming and at Utah State in 2010.

And sadly another year goes by with no SUU/Weber game. This makes four years straight now.
SUU/Weber played 4 out of 5 years then 2006,2007,2008,2009 no game.
