UR's Robins Stadium "expanding"?

If they are erecting "Student" bleachers opposite the scoreboard (plus a small section {400} of temp. bleachers near the scoreboard), this'll increase capacity to about 10,200-ish.........and this story implies that those 400 "new" seats can be used for the visiting teams........such as VMI, JMU, W&M.

That's good news.

It's consistent with what I've heard that they had to start small to gain neighborhood buy-in, fully intending to expand over time...looks like they're wasting no time.

Unfortunately no this is not an expansion. Previously there were 1600 seats in one endzone, and 0 in the other. They are now switching 1200 of the seats to the other side for the students, and keeping 400 under the scoreboard. As it has been decided that with only 2800 undergrads, the students only need 1200 seats not 1600, the other 400 have been turned into visitor seats, and 400 visitor seats in the main (north east) side have been turned into season tickets.

Darn, thanks for the clarification. The way I read the article, UR was adding seats in the other end zone, not actually physically moving the bleachers from one end to the other........but this is what Mr. O'C wrote:
In Robins Stadium's first year, UR reserved 1,600 seats for students, who didn't fill the seats for most games. That space has been reduced to 1,200, and the student section will move from under the scoreboard to new bleachers that will be erected behind the end zone at the Robins Center side of the stadium.

Of course if I had my druthers, UR would build a new track / field / soccer stadium over by the President's house, and then lose the track, lower the field and expand to 14K our so... Well I can always dream.

Not surprised, also looking at the design of the stadium itself it does look like it could be very easily expanded.
