Congrats Charles Haley (JMU)
Didn't see this posted and the Dexter Coakley thread reminded me. Pretty cool that Haley (JMU) and Coakley (ASU) both go into the college football hall of fame in the same year ... played FCS and both, at one point at least, were Cowboys.

Haley was a good Cowboy, but was perhaps more famous for his outstanding work with the Whiners.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

JMU, 49ers, Cowboys?

Yeah, I despise the Cowboys ... not so much SanFran though.andy7171 wrote:JMU, 49ers, Cowboys?

I'm waiting for Gary Clark to get in. He was before my time but I consider him one of my favorite players of all time because he is JMU/Skin for life. There is talk that he could get into the PRO football hall of fame someday, especially since Art Monk is now in ... so I'm surprised he isn't in the college football hall of fame yet (Haley was the first for JMU football).

Was listening to SiriusXM the other day when they were broadcasting the College Football Hall of Fame and they had a nice segment on him. JMU got plenty of plugs. So did Dexter Coakley of ASU.

Gary Clark had a great run between the last two super bowls, but I'm not so sure I would consider him NFL HOF caliber.JmuSkinsfan wrote:Yeah, I despise the Cowboys ... not so much SanFran though.andy7171 wrote:JMU, 49ers, Cowboys?

Receptions: 699 (33)
Yards: 10,856 (26th)
Touchdowns: 65 (44th)
Maybe not Hall of Fame stats, but they're certainly borderline ... especially when you consider that Clark played prior to the big pass era ... although the Skins did air it out a good bit with the "posse"
Also, consider those numbers are minus the couple seasons he played prior to joining the skins when he was in the alternate NFL league at the time.
He basically averaged 69 receptions, 1,080 yards and 6.5 touchdowns a season for 10 years.
Also, he and Marvin Harrison are the only two players to have at least 50 receptions in all of their first 10 seasons. It shows that he was consistent and didn't necessarily have a few "big" years ... he had a solid 10 year career

Don't get me wrong. I loved Gary Clark. That was a great time to be a Redskins fan. He's one of the best Redskins ever. I just don't consider him a HOF'er. And I forgot he played in the USFL.JmuSkinsfan wrote:Receptions: 699 (33)

Re: Congrats Charles Haley (JMU)
Yeah, his career rankings could be a bit higher with 2 additional seasons. I didn't say he SHOULD be in though ... I just heard some talk of him being somewhere on the list after Art Monk got in. Of course, Monk had to be inducted before Clark even got considerationandy7171 wrote:Don't get me wrong. I loved Gary Clark. That was a great time to be a Redskins fan. I'm a little on the fence as to whether Monk should have gotten in. But that is a whole other ball of wax.
