The top three levels of the AC at KBS are pratically a carbon copy of Deacon Towers. Same construction company did the work as well. If you remember the initial drawings of the AC the press box was almost identical. I think WF has one of best looking stadiums in the country.ASUG8 wrote:I hope you got the sarcasm from my post, KY. If this is the newest FieldTurf (Duraspine Pro) Yes, they do cut out the area for the logos and conference tags, as well as the lettering in the EZ. The logos, etc. are one piece and are sewn into the cut-out. We had this installed last year; as did Sac State and the NE Patriots. No player on our team had a problem with footing, getting caught in any seams or injured. The guys love it.

Pictures of the Texas State Bobcat’s new turf as of June 28th. They cut out parts of the field for the letters, numerals, hash marks & logos to fit into. It’s looking good! Show’em State!

The turf being installed in KBS is the recently introduced Revolution product. I talked to the crew and watched them install some of the hash marks last week. The turf is shaved off the backing and the pre formed lettering and logo's are put in place with hot glue with a hot melt machine, powered by a gas engine.CatMom wrote:If this is the newest FieldTurf (Duraspine Pro) Yes, they do cut out the area for the logos and conference tags, as well as the lettering in the EZ. They were laying down infill when I looked earlier today, now they're completing the endzones.

And it's done.
They decided against the sideline script because it looked bad plus it wouldn't be worth it to redo since it's a freaking sideline and there will be hundreds of people standing on it when it matters.

DJ said in his chat today that it would be between 1500 and 2000 additional seats. He also said they will be put up after FanFest and removed after the season is completed.ASUG8 wrote:Aho Old Guy wrote:End zone stands!

I'm a big fan of green endzones, but the text is ridiculously ugly. It looks like it belongs from an era long gone. Should've been big, bold, and stretching the width of the field. Instead, it's small, blends with the grass, and centered. Honestly, I think 70s and 80s football fields when I see these "new" pics.

I'm just guessing ... but I suspect that design was partially driven by a desire for your standard TV 'money shot'. Any activity in the vicinity of the goal line results in several seconds of 'Appalachian State' dominating the camera view. Those dang marketing guys know their stuff - LOL - that's some smart thinkin' right there in promoting the brand.ASUG8 wrote:I don't think I've heard from one App fan that did like it.∞∞∞ wrote:I'm a big fan of green endzones, but the text is ridiculously ugly. I would have preferred 'State' being dropped with 'Appalachian' made fifty percent taller, maybe a touch more bold in lettering -- but not any wider, of course.

Keep the black end zones and you get a lot more punch out the the text written there, but they didn't ask me.Aho Old Guy wrote:I'm just guessing ... but I suspect that design was partially driven by a desire for your standard TV 'money shot'. Re: Post-Game Thread: App State Turf Replacment/Crown Remova
Saw the field in person last week. The endzones look much better than on the web cam, but those awful yeller rectangles on the sidelines dominate the entire field. I'm betting Coach Moore wishes he had that decision back. The black border gives the field a classy look and had it been continued around in place of the yeller that thing would have been awesome. Time to drag out the black paint guys! The only thing that doesn't look good is the north (Owens Field House) endzone. It appears the crew installed the turf different running in different directions and there is a seam running smack down the middle making the endzone look like the alternating shades instead of the solid darker green. One of the pictures shows it quite well. Didn't think it was possible, but now I hate the track even more!

I'm heading up next weekend - hopefully I can break into KBS to check it out.
