So you're saying essentially that Nate Montana will have about as much effect on the world of college football as Pete Rose, Jr., had on the world of baseball....griz8791 wrote:This will be a pretty non-spectacular transfer if it actually happens. I dread the thought of a flood of eager-beaver Griz fans swarming onto this board to anoint this guy the greatest QB ever to play the game. Some of them will probably also put up stadium pics.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
Re: Montana visiting Montana
I don't think anyone is going to anoint him as the second coming of anything. But, I do like the added competition at QB especially if he's a walk on! He would be the QB with the most experience at that position unless someone else pops up.griz8791 wrote:This will be a pretty non-spectacular transfer if it actually happens. So he didn't do that well at Notre Dame, I love the Griz but I'm sorry, they are NOT Notre Dame. I may be going way out on a limb here but I think the game is just a bit slower and the competition just a bit less skilled in the Big Sky as to what he's played with and against. Could be, he does quite well here. Who knows!
As far as pictures of the stadium, WHY NOT! After all it is "Montana's" Stadium!!!

He had even worse stats at the JC he played at for a year.VictorG wrote:I don't think anyone is going to anoint him as the second coming of anything. Cool. So, I guess this means the Eags get to beat up on both of Joe's kids next year?

Re: Montana visiting Montana
In what, his 2nd year playing QB, ever? I'm not saying he'll even make the team but I think his stats are pretty meaningless up until now. We'll see how he does and go from there.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:He had even worse stats at the JC he played at for a year.

Might as well just cancel the season and hand the next two titles to Montana.

Why? No realistic Griz fan even expects him to be the starter if he does transfer here.dbackjon wrote:Might as well just cancel the season and hand the next two titles to Montana.
If we had gotten Tate Forcier, I could understand that feeling, but I don't expect Nate Montana to be the guy in the foreseeable future.

Yeah, confirmed by Jim O'Day. There are also rumors that he's been asked to play Safety instead of QB.Willie wrote:He's a Griz.

Interesting, I hadn't heard the position change thing yet.
He may or may not make the team better, but its still going to be weird to see a guy with the same name on both sides of the jersey.

Most hype for an FCS walkon ever?

I think most Griz fans are cautiously optimistic, at best, about how much of an impact he'll have.

I admit I haven't read the threads on egriz... but, I checked it out and there seemed to be about a half dozen threads on him... one 11 pages... for a walkon transfer. Seemed like a lot of hype. But, again, not about to actually read the threads.
Maybe it's 11 pages of cautious optimism... I dunno.

I haven't read them either, nor do I have any intention of doing so. eGriz=Skjellyfetti wrote:I admit I haven't read the threads on egriz... but, I checked it out and there seemed to be about a half dozen threads on him... one 11 pages... for a walkon transfer. Re: Montana visiting Montana
The Griz have pretty much always had solid quarterback play including last year. Whoever ends up QB'ing the Griz doesn't need to be a superstar for the Griz to be successful. Last years problems had more to deal with lack of running game early in the season and turnovers.

I've rarely heard this little hype about a transfer QB so I'll have to say no on that one. I ain't reading the egriz threads either but I doubt it would compare to the Forcier ones and just because people are discussing something doesn't relate to hype but on egriz that shit can take a weird turn so who knows. There just isn't a lot of hype going on here or around town for it as far as I can see. Just another guy coming in that has a hall of fame dad from what I can tell.

Troof, we needed an Oline gelling a lot sooner than we had it last year. Ah well, shit happens.bpcats wrote:The Griz have pretty much always had solid quarterback play including last year. Haven't seen/heard anyone tout him as anything but another QB walking on.Ursus A. Horribilis wrote:I've rarely heard this little hype about a transfer QB so I'll have to say no on that one. BUT
Once the girls see his picture there may be some problems develop. Blond, chiseled torso, Grizo eyes.............Not that his looks matter to me but at my age, I like it when the gals are already warmed up!!
