Red appears to work for EWU. Undefeated on the "Maxipad" but still think they should call it "Hell" as in "Welcome to Hell".

I mentioned this on our board, but the announced attendance of 6600 or so seemed way off to me. The entire press box side was packed, the end zone seating was full, and the opposite side was basically full. It looked a lot more like 8 or 9 thousand there to me. There was almost 12 thousand at Roos earlier in the year to watch the Montana game, and no way were there 5 thousand more people there at that game than there were last night. What gives? Do schools under report in the playoffs??
Griz fans filled the place up and made noise. Its only a couple hundred miles away from Missoula
Don't kid yourself. I would have loved to have seen more, but it seems that most UM folks stayed home for this one citing the turf gate and ticket thing from the game this year as the reason. I did see a few out there, though and I'm glad they came.

As to the turf, if you're not going to use real grass, don't bother pretending it is (my opinion since they decided to make tennis courts blue).
I've been going to games there for years and years and have a pretty good feel for what announced crowds look like. No way was that the correct figure, but I guess it doesn't really matter anyway.

It's been under reported all three playoff games.

As Penthouse said it happens all the time in playoff games at all schools so they keep a few crumbs. It looked about 7500 or slightly higer to me and the game and the field looked good on TV.

The NCAA doesn't and should not have a god damn say in it. That should be up to conferences and if the NCAA wants to make a rule about where championship shit can be played then fine.

Just what we need is the NCAA coming in and making up more rules about shit that doesn't have a thing to do with what is going on in the game.

It happens on pool tables too, god-aweful blue and red felts :ohno: it doesnt affect play but it takes away from the esthetics of the game.

Can you imagine Red Lodge or Snowbird coloring their artificial snow?

While my personal opinion is that a football field should be green...I have to agree with most that unlike the Smurf Turf of Boise, the red was not hard on my eyes in HD...

Congrats EWU....

The field looks better when the Eags don't wear all red uni's

The black looked great last night.

I was also happy with the crowd....now plan a trip south and support the team. It's hard to get to the national championship game so make the trip...it's fun

I talked to several people today who are football fans, but not necessarily FCS football fans, that said they turned the game off because of the red field.

I found the game hard to watch. I have no doubt that the field looks better in person and might even look better on TV during the daytime.

I like Boise's field for day games, but not so much for night games. I suspect that may also be the case for EWU's field.

Too bad for them, they missed a hell of a game. I had a hard time with the red but did manage to actually watch the whole thing. Turning the lights down in my office helped....kinda like a movie theater.

Seriously, I don't get all this shit about how people can't watch the red turf on tv. I seriously think this is just shit people say to to have something to whine about. I also don't have a problem (and never have) with Boise State's. I watched the replay in HD and thought the black uni's looked awesome against the turf. But I guess we always knew it wouldn't be for everyone. Oh well. :thumb:

Ranger,
I didn't say I hated it I said it was hard to watch. The black Uni's did help. As in most things, everyone is different and that goes for eyesight. Mine is not great and bright colors/lights give me issues. If that's whining, so be it.

Im gonna be honest/non bias... The ESPN2HD i was watching looked FRIGGIN GREAT!

Im almost certain ESPN made EWU wear black instead of red bc this was a nationaly televised game.
The black uniforms looked great vs the red turf.
HD made everything look that much better
Roos Field had a great turnout considering the prox to Christmas.
ESPN did a good job of overall coverage of the game. Extra lights, showing good reverse angles, showing good fanshots.

EWU now needs replay board now more than ever.

The black unis on the red turf were good to watch. The real horror happens when E-dub wears the red on the red turf.

I was more referencing the comments about how someone turned the game off because of the field. Just ridiculous, IMO. You at least continued to watch even though you had a hard time watching it. :thumb:

I do like the black a lot better. It also gets rid of the myth that our players are camo'ing themselves.

Of course you are going to love the field, it's your field. If an EWU fan turned the game off because of the color of the field I might agree with you, but if someone who doesn't GAF about EWU turns the game off because they don't like the red that's their right.

There were a lot of people that said the same thing. I was actually suprised at the number of people who said they didn't/couldn't watch. In fact, of the group I was talking to, I think only two of us did watch the whole game.

The red field looks great. Boise State's blue field bothers me because it looks like my TV's color settings are off. After a decade of greedy corporations and radical environmentalists rallying behind their green scam/religion to take more money out of my wallet, I am quit sick of the color green.

If that were really the case I'd think you'd be happy if someone took more money out of your wallet.

The 21st Century is great. Red football fields, online banking, debit cards. Just need to move to the other side of the mountains, and I can be almost green free.

Try China. I don't think they worry about all that enviro-green crap. They'll even let you have all the lead you can live with. Best of all, it's sometimes called Red China!

I am for a clean environment, just sick of the hijacking of common sense by money grubbers and religious wackos. Green is Universal; barf. GE is just the biggest whore out there. Sick and tired of the green religion, highlighter green Seahawks stuff, ENOUGH! That red field is really refreshing.
