We're in the same position, the only difference is that you've got the auto-bid........we'll still get a top 5 seed, and even if MSU gets a higher seed, it won't be the #1 seed. Also, our Big Sky Championship means the same as yours.
So tell me again, what are we supposed to be envious of?
There is no way if I was co-champ and lost to the other co-champ would I ever celebrate it like some of you guys are. That is just pathetic.
Oh and AZgriz, you really think the better team lost? Better teams dont fumble in the red zone, dont throw picks at the other team's 30. Dont give me that BS. The better team won, accept it move on.
No way the griz should be in the playoffs with 6 D-1 wins and losing 2 of their last 3. The griz are definitely not the top 6 D-1 team hoping to get in. There are others that would be ahead of you.
Same record. If you didn't want to share the championship, then you shouldn't have gotten blown out by NAU.
Also, I'm pretty sure that whenever MSU last won a conference championship it was shared - and MSU fans didn't have a problem claiming those, either. Kettle, meet pot.
The last time anyone other than Montana won a BSC title was EWU in 1997, so it's not like sharing conference titles is some new phenomenon.
MSU01 wrote:MSU's road win over UM will help them a hell of a lot more in the computer polls that go into the GPI than will EWU's home win over Idaho State.
Way to cherry pick there.
Huh? I'm just referring to how the GPI may change from how it looks now to how it will look after this week's games are included.

Did you beat us? Didn't think so.
Both teams have conference losses on the road. Our loss to a 9-2 MSU looks much better than MSU's loss to a 5-6 or 6-5 NAU. We also had a tougher non-conference schedule. We're also kicking the shit out of ISU, a team that took MSU to over-time. We're also ranked higher in the polls. Spin it how you want, though.
I honestly don't care, as long as we're in the top 5.
This. So MSU won the autobid.. BFD. We're still in the playoffs, and have just as much, if not a better chance for a seed. Our FCS looks better than MSU's. Tougher OOC. Better conference wins. Go Big Sky.

And? Is their some rule that states that a higher seed goes to the conference auto-bid?
No. But, y'all were arguing whose lost to the worst team, who had a tougher non conference schedule, etc. etc.
That stuff doesn't matter if they beat y'all head to head, imo.
It does though, in the eyes of the committee. H2H only really counts for tiebreakers for the AQ. Seeding revolves around who has the best overall resume, which if you look at it, EWU does by a slight margin. Better OOC, better conference wins, better loss conference loss, and 7 game win streak.
CatBlitz22 wrote:How does the "bidding" process work when comparing seeds and home games? I know MSU outbid a lot of teams for the home game against Furman a few years back but it wasn't for a seed.
Essentially, if two unranked teams meet, whichever team can guarantee the NCAA the most money, gets the home game.
That is why Montana always gets a home game in the first round when they are not ranked.
Like I said before, while the FCS championships is a drop in the bucket considering ALL the money the NCAA loses on championships, a business still like to make money when they can.

Ok, so you're assuming that the #8 team in the polls gets a higher seed than the #3 team in the polls - because they won head to head? Gotcha.
I doubt very much that the human polls matter at this point - IMO, EWU and MSU are very close. Both should be seeded and I think you can make a good case for either team getting the better seed (EWU stronger schedule, MSU head-to-head W). MSU's road win over UM will help them a hell of a lot more in the computer polls that go into the GPI than will EWU's home win over Idaho State.
Agreed on all points, except your last because you're cherry pickin'. You have to look at all games played when deciding seeds... at least the committee will.

Why are people having this discussion on two separate threads?
Last I checked, EWU doesn't play in the Brawl of the Wild.

Well, if you feel good about the way the sCats played in the second half, bully for you. "Better" teams don't get 7 yards of offense in an entire quarter. The Griz absolutely DOMINATED the second half everywhere except where it mattered.
But, whatever helps you sleep at night. The Bobscat team I watched today gets absolutely ROLLED in the first round.

Looking at these comments the phrase "a win is a win" comes to mind. I agree whole heartedly that MSU played poorly in the 2nd half. However they did enough to win and in the end that is all that matters. The same comments could be said if Montana had won even with fumbling 4 times on the opponents side of the 50. Both teams played sloppy and in the end unfortunately the ball bounced more often then not in the Bobcats favor. You cant judge a team based on one bad performance especially during a rivalry game in bad weather. .

And the better team lost in the Lumberjack-Griz game, and the Hornet-Griz game, right?

No. In those games the better team found a way to win.
