Actually, I guess they don't offer scholarships at DIII.

I should have edited my post, Willamette was the only one that showed an interest in playing him at receiver, as well as us.
Yeah D-III doesn't do scholarships. In fact, we played Willamette my junior and senior years. Junior year we went there (had to pay our own way) and got our ass kicked. Senior year we kicked the shit out of them, even though the score didn't show it (24-17). Had one of my best games in my career against them.

There is no way EWU can catch the Griz in Jalmond's poll unless the Griz lose or EWU beats them at home in the playoffs.
JALMOND's ranking, not poll, RANKING!

If you weren't on AGS then you won't get that but if you were you'll recognize it.

Possibility but from the past I know that he ranks them based on what he thinks is the most productive team or powerful team at the time and therefore if he thinks the Griz would win on a nuetral field then the Griz may still have the edge.
A better question (with no disrespect to Jalmond) would be if we both win out, who would get greater consideration for a seed? I'm guessing it's the Griz.

Yeah, if a seed were on the line then they will find a reason. Too much money for them not to. It ain't fair but it is likely the answer. It would work against us if they had no way to seed us and they could get away with putting us in the first round then they would make us host then as well so at least I'm pretty sure they'll be consistent in the money grab. They will want us either top 4 or bottom 8.

Well, if we both win out (and EWU gets the auto) the Griz get the seed & home game...due to one thing:

The upside being another possible playoff trip for Kalm to his birthplace. My Eagles ruined it the last couple of chances.

Right now I would put EWU at #2 and MSU at #3.

MSU's defense which in the past has been strong is a shadow of its former self. They are making enough plays to win games but are very inconsistent right now with all the young players in rotation especially at corner. In the next couples of weeks we should get our starting cornerback, middle linebacker, and more importantly our starting defensive end back into the lineup but until then, the defense have been very hit and miss. Once they get back in we should start to see the type of performance that held EWU to 7 points.

Another thing that popped up during the NAU game and UNC game that nobody is talking about is the fact that with all the injuries along the offensive line the Cats have lost a lot of size along the interior line. Where once we had guys in the 290-300lb range at the guard and center positions we are now running with an interior line around 260lb range. Where before we could move guys side to side and up the field now we are limited to getting them to move side to side. It has definitely affected our running game. Even after getting our starting guard back, the Cats have gone with the lighter offensive line because they have been working well together as a unit. Teams with good defensive fronts like the Griz could have a field day creating havoc in the backfield like NAU did.

It is amazing where these rankings have gone through the years. At the start, I was hoping it would be used by those who were not as familiar with the Big Sky as an indicator to where the teams may be strength-wise after that week's games. Now, I feel like a celebrity.

Being that it was asked regarding the Griz and EWU winning out, I'll try to shed some light on it (adding that I do reserve the right to change my mind when/if it happens---my opinion, you know). If EWU looks impressive (and I'll leave that to speculation) against PSU and Southern Utah, and MSU and UM both continue to struggle, EWU may move up. PSU and Southern Utah are quality opponents and the Eagles, looking good in those games, could possibly find themselves on top going into the final week. Understandably, the winner of Cat/Griz will get a big boost, especially MSU if they can win in Missoula. NAU could also move up if the top three continue to look shaky and the Jacks close out impressively. Also Weber State, given up for dead just a couple weeks ago, could rise sharply with games against UM, MSU and NAU. Right now, I do think Sacramento State is better than Weber State, but I can't think of a scenario for the Hornets to move up to #1.

I want to thank everyone for their kind words and maybe putting more stock into these rankings than they should. I highly doubt the committee even knows they exist, let alone use them to judge seeding from the Big Sky.

You do a good job with the rankings, but you're explanations when asked to justify show you give them much more thought than what you initially post. That's where you shine. :thumb:
