Warren, Schaetzke, Crawford, Pierce capture FCS weekly awards
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - South Dakota quarterback Dante Warren, Georgetown defensive end Andrew Schaetzke, Stephen F. Austin special teams performer Gralyn Crawford and Delaware running back Andrew Pierce have been named The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS National Players of the Week for games Saturday, Sept. 11.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dante Warren, South Dakota, Junior, 6-0, 196, QB, Arlington Heights, IL

Warren was scintillating in South Dakota's stunning 41-38 victory over FBS opponent Minnesota. The junior quarterback completed 21-of-30 passes for 352 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns, including a 25-yarder on a 4th-and-1 play midway through the fourth quarter, which all but sealed South Dakota's victory.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Andrew Schaetzke, Georgetown, Junior, 6-4, 250, DE, Toledo, OH

Schaetzke had a strong showing in Georgetown's 28-24 upset of fellow Patriot League member Lafayette. Schaetzke finished the game with eight tackles, including four tackles for loss, two sacks and a forced fumble. The junior defensive end was particularly strong in the decisive fourth quarter, as he helped thwart Lafayette's comeback attempt with a sack and forced fumble in the red zone and a sack on the first play of Lafayette's final possession.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Gralyn Crawford, Stephen F. Austin, Sophomore, 5-10, 175, WR, Palestine, TX

Crawford returned the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown in Stephen F. Austin's 59-14 win over Albany. The Texas native wasn't done, however, as he also returned three punts for 86 yards, including a 72-yard touchdown. He also caught seven passes for 55 yards and a touchdown. In all, Crawford racked up 233 all-purpose yards in the rout.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Andrew Pierce, Delaware, Freshman, 5-11, 200, RB, Bridgeton, NJ

Pierce became the first Delaware Blue Hen ever to rush for over 100 yards in his first two collegiate games as he torched South Dakota State for 165 rushing yards and a touchdown in a 26-3 win. Pierce broke the Jackrabbits' backs early, as he racked up 94 yards by halftime. In two career contests, Pierce has 284 yards on 39 carries and is leading CAA Football with 142 rushing yards per game.

Samad Wagstaff of Bryant should of gotten some rep. :thumb: He registered two interceptions (one for a 53 yard touchdown run and the other to the St. A's 1 yard line), six tackles and one pass break-up.

Georgetown??

Nobody from a non-scholarship program should EVER win a POW award. These faux football programs need to go to DIII.

Jesus Christ.
