Pat Devlin was slinging it Saturday in Delaware’s 26-3 rout of South Dakota State.
Today, the Delaware quarterback was just wearing a sling.
It was attached to his left (non-throwing) arm as Devlin watched his Blue Hen teammates go through their usual day-after-a-game conditioning drills late this afternoon at Delaware Stadium.
Delaware would still not answer questions about Devlin’s injury, a marked departure from usual practice, which is why I went to see for myself.
Coach K.C. Keeler said earlier Sunday he’d have nothing to say about it until Monday, which he repeated — in a very cordial way, of course — at the stadium.
So Devlin, Delaware’s most important player, is indeed hurt, as we suspected Saturday. To what degree, and how it might affect him and the Blue Hens heading into Saturday’s 6 p.m. clash with Duquesne and after that, remains a mystery.
