I'll be the first to admit tailgating is very good in Gnatsboro, but to say ASU's isn't even in the "same stratosphere as Paulson" is a stretch. Your point would've had far more merit prior to 2006, but things are changing quickly in Boone. ASU's tailgate scene was pretty much non existent prior to 2005, but over the past four years it has come a light years. You guys had a huge head start (just like the NC's) but we're catching up quickly. :nod:

"I really want to go to Kidd Brewer one of these years, but I keep hearing so many bad things about visitor parking. Are there any plans for improvement, or should I just suck it up and go?"

Make the trip. You won't regret it. One of the best game day experiences in FCS football and better than a lot of lower level FBS programs. This info should help. http://www.alumni.appstate.edu/tailgate ... zones.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"Paladin Stadium is a great venue, though some more architecture around the stadium will be nice once it happens. Lots of great (free) parking very close to the stadium. Having never been on the visiting side there, I can't speak for the intimidation factor."

Other than the new scoreboard last year I know of no improvements made to your stadium since it was built. It needs a lot of TLC. On of my biggest gripes is with the concession stands on the side opposite the pressbox (I hate the home and visitor side stuff). It is small and gets very crowded due to it being located right in front of the main entrance to the seating area. It may not be much of a problem during most games, but it is a bear if that side is 1/2 full. Have to say the parking for visiting fans is outstanding!

The largest crowd I've ever seen in that stadium was the 1981 ASU game. It was RA Day and it seemed like 10,000 of the 19,000+ people there were kids. All those kids running around screaming at the top of thei lungs, on and off misty rain the entire game, and we lost a heartbreaker. A miserable day all around.

It may not be intimidating, but tailgating doesn't get much better than overlooking the Ashley River off Lockwood Street. Yea, it might be a bit of a walk, but worth every step.

I think Elon's rise to the top of the SoCon has been too short to really measure the impact of their stadium.

From a Furman perspective, Johnson Hagood is much more daunting a challenge than Gibbs. Just an FU fans two cents.
I can see where Johnson Hagood could be in the top five from the tradition and loudness categories, but the facility itself has to be close to dead last.
